Miss F. 'Eliott Bell, daughter of Mrs. Frank Elliott Bell of Ann Arbor, was married to Karl Illava, in the li- brary of the Edgewood School in Greenwich, Conn. Mrs. Illava re- ceived her bachelor and master de- grees at the University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorrity. Following the bridegroom's re- ceiving of the degree of doctor of philosophy in physics at the Uni- versity, a quiet wedding June 23 marked the marriage of Miss Ann Tamela, '44, daughter of William Tamela of Houghton, and Dr. John I. Platt, son of Mr. and Mrs. t. W. Platt of Ann Arbor. Dr. Platt has taken a position at the University of Minnesota conducting research in biophysics under a Rockefeller Foundation grant. Two University gfaduates, Miss Julia Ann Upson, '39, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Upson of Ann Arbor, and Frank MacIvor Conway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Con-i way of Staten Island, N.Y., exchanged vows June 23 in the Church of the1 Covenant at Washington, D.C. Mrs.c Conway is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Conway belongs to Psi Upsilon fraternity and to Tau Beta Pi honor society. The couple are in Swedes- boro, N.J. St. Mary's Student Chapel was the scene of the wedding ceremony uniting Miss Jean Margaret Ham- mond, '42, daughter of Mrs. Percy 'Hugh Hammond and the late Mr. Hammond, and Ansel F. Hosmer, jr., '41, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Hosmer of Dearborn. Mr. Hosmer received his degree from the Col- lege of Engineering. The home ofs the couple will be in Philadelphia,F Pa. Louise Butler, '41, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Douglas Spencer,1 was united in, marriage with Horatio Theodore Enterline, '41, in Hazelton, Pa., this summer. Mr. Enterline ist affiliated with Sigma Chi. After Oct. 1 the couple will be at home at 4006 Pine Street, Philadelphia, Pa. Forrest Russel Jordan, '40, and his bride, the former Hazel A. Jen-I sen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Jensen, left after their June 10 wedding on a two weeks Caribbean cruise. Mrs. Jordan is a member of Chi Omega sorority. Mr. Jor- dan, who was graduated from the education school, is a member' of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and of Mic igamua honorary society. Mr. Finton graduated from the medical school. The nuptials of Marian Hillman of Jackson and George Hoyt Servis of Ann Arbor took place June 15 in the Calvary Methodist Church at Jack- son. The ,marriage of Patricia VIaff,. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Caroll Barse Haff of Pelham Manor, N.Y., and Maximilian Charles Schoetz III of Milwaukee, Wis., took place late in June. Mr. Schoetz received his bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's in business administration. At the home of her mother, Mrs. Frederick Wilans Bacorn in Ann Arbor, Gertrude Bacorn was mar- ried July 1 to Dr. Peter Eaistman of the University Hospital. Mrs. Eastman attended the University, and since receiving her bachelor of arts and master's degrees has been assistant in post-graduate medicine and a bacteriologist in the Uni- versity clinical laboratories. Elizabeth 'Chubb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Chubb of Ann Arbor and Sgt. Roy Kimbrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy K. Kimbrell of Chicago were married on July 5. Margaret Helen Whittemore, '41A,. daughter of Prof. and Mrs. Harlow Olin Whittemore of Ann Arbor, was married to William Welles Lyman, Jr., '39A, son of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Lyman of Norwich, Conn., July 12 in the chancel of the First Presby- terian Church. Miss Whittemore is a member of Delta Gamma sorority and was elect- ed to Alpha Lambda Delta, Wyvern and Mortar Board, honorary societies. She was the first woman student to win the position of art editor on the Michiganensian and was dance chair- man on the League Council. Other offices which she held were: cos- tume chairman for the Freshman Project; member of the Junior Girls Play Committee and treasurer of Tau Sigma Delta, honorary art soci- ety. Mr. Lyman served as chapter presi- dent of Delta Upsilon and president of Tau Sigma Delta. In his fresh- man year he was elected to Phi Eta Sigma. He received his master's de- gree from the graduate school of de- sign of Harvard University in 1940 and the same year won the Booth traveling fellowship for Michigan graduates. The couple will live in Cambridge, Mass. Classmates in the medical school of Dr. Robert Thompson Plumb have received announcements of his marriage on July 22 to Elsie Jane Burkett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Edwin Burkett of San Gabriel, Calif. Dr. Plumb is a graduate of Albion College, the University Medical School and will spend his period of internship here. Dr. and Mrs. Plumb will return to Ann Arbor in October after a tour of California and the Pacific Coast. Julia Ann Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto M. Two Ann Arbor brides who have been classmates through high school and the University and who 'were prominent in Assembly, chose July 27 for their weddings, both of which were held in the League Garden. The first wedding was that of Ellen Cuthbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan N. Cuthbert of Ann Arbor, and Kermit M. Webb, son of Mrs. Fred A. Webb of Oak Park, Ill., and the late Mr. Webb.
