For Child Aid. (Continued from Page 1)1 the American Federation is confined chiefly to the British Isles, this is' only because of the difficulties of communication with the European continent. The Federaion also actively coop- erates with the International Save the Children Union at Geneva, Swit- zerland, of which it is a member. In addition, the refugee children from Britain *receiving aid through this organization include hundreds of ref- ugees from continental countries over-run by German conquests. Particular stress is being laid on the nursery home program of the refugee aid organization as a result of Allen's recent observations. Under this plan civic groups in America sponsor homes in rural areas for groups of 30 or more children ren- dered homeless- and often orphaned- by enemy bombs. This plan is now receiving more emphasis for the ac- commodation of thousands of home- less, than the popular "adoptee" plan. Mrs. Preston W. Slosson and Mrs. Edward W. Blakeman, co-chairmen of the Ann Arbor Save the Children Federation, are completing arrange- ments for the dinner and lecture scheduled. Names of ticket chair- men will be announced shortly. The local organization was launch- ed last April with the visit here of Sir, Robert and Lady Mayer of Lon- don, England, on tour in this country as liaison oficers between the Amer- ican and British Federation. While in the city they were guests of Presi- dent and Mrs. Alexander G. Ruthven. guardian receives the child's case his- tory and usually a picture.
