Four students were recorded with grades of E in an Economics course because of plagiarism, in the written work of that course., A student was recorded with a grade of E in a Physics course be- cause of dishonesty in writing a make-up examination fQr the mid- semester examination of that course. A student was recorded with an E grade- in a Philosophy course, and was suspended indefinitely from this College, because of dishonesty in the writing of the final examination in the course. Faculty, College of Literature, Sci- ence, and the Arts: Attendance re- port cards are being distributed through the departmental offices. In- structors are requested to report ab- sences of sophomores, juniors, and seniors to 1220 Angell HaU, on the buff cards which are now being dis- tributed to departmental secretaries. Oct. 4. --UP)-The United Automobile Workers 1CIO pressed efforts today to expand its defense-jobs hiring agreement with General Motors Corporation to all other producers in the automobile in- dustry. President R. J. Thomas, calling priorities unemployment "the most serious problem faced by the unions in years," announced that represen- tatives of m nagement, labor and the Office of production Management would meet here Monday on the mat- ter. The union-General Motors plan provides for the protection of auto- mobile workers' seniority in the trans- fer from normal to defense produc- tion and their return to regular ac- tivity-after the end of the emergency. 0 b Students, College of Literature, Science, and the Arts: Election cards filed after the end of, the first week of the semester may be accepted by the Registrar's Office only if they are approved by Assistant Dean Wal- ter. Students who fail to file their selection blanks by the close of the third week, even though they have registered and have attended classes unofficially, will forfeit their privi- lege of continuing in the College for the semester. A student was placed on probation for the balance of the second sem- ester from June 4, 1941, and for the first semester of the year 1941-42, be- Prof. Price To Give Recital Of Classics The classic melodies of Schumann and Brahms will ring out on the carillon bells tonight as Prof. Percival Price gives his third recital of the season, at 7:15 p.m. Prof. Price opened this series of recitals a week ago with a mixed pro- gram of student songs, hymns, and other compositions. Last Thursday he played Flemish, English, and American folk songs. For. tonight's recital, three pieces by Robert Schumann and four by Johannes Brahms are scheduled. Graduate Outing Group Will OpenSeason Today The first meeting of the Graduate Outing Club will be held at 2:30 this afternoon at the rear northwest door of the Rackham building. A program of hiking football, and an outdoors supper is planned, if the weather permits. All graduate stu- dents, faculty, and alumni are invited to attend-the outing.
