In the meantime, a committee has
been formed to investigate the mat-

Congress, Billy Combs, president of

The Feather presents Joan Gillis
as the best dressed girl of the week.
Notice her unmatched stockings,'
a new creation direct from Paris.F L
Also notice the way the right one is
worn, just a little above the knee.
This adds variety to Gillis' cos-
tume. Have you spotted the thrill-
ing stripe on the right leg?
Her hat is a boxed ear type withp
a name plate over the forehead. This
is especially handy during wartime
where such identification comes in'
handy. This creation made for wear
and tear has a spiffy tie that slips
under the chin to hold the headpiece,
in place during a windstorm.
The gloves are merely a variety
of the boxing gloves that most of us
have been wearing of late. Built
for service they are well-padded for
the winter months. The jersey;
worn .by Miss Gillis is a sort of
beige-grey color, blending in with
the snow, etc.
All this adds up to the sharpest:
outfit seen on campus this week.
Made expressly for the winter months,
it shows practicality from head to _
foot. Joan Gillis gets a feather in JOAN GILLIS

Assembly To Use Railroad
Theme At Informal Dance;
Bill Sawyer's Orchestra To Play
Bill Sawyer and his orchestra will
be sitting in the caboose of the
"X-mas X-press" from 9:30 p.m. to
1 a.m. Friday when Assembly gives
its annual informal dance in the
League Ballroom.
Back of the orchestra stand, a win-
dow, door and awning effect will
create the illusion of the caboose of a
train and a railing in front markedx
"X-mas X-press" will set the stand
off from the rest of the room.
Hitchhikers Galore
A snowman and snow girl dressed
in Michigan sweaters will be thumb-
ing their way on either side of the
"X-mas X-press." Both are blond
with yellow and blue pull-overs. Blue
and white lights will lend a wintry
atmosphere to the room.
Holly will decorate the walls be-
tween the windows and the panels
on the sides of the ballroom, and at
the door two Christmas trees will
be set. The trees will be all decor-
ated with tinsel and pretty bobbles,
according to Jean Krise, '42, who is
in charge of the committee.
Gifts To Be Collected
Norma Ginsberg, '41, has an-
nounced that the "pack" at the en-
trance to the ballroom will consist
of a box fashioned like a Christmas
package and tied with a large red
bow. This is the "pack" into which
the guests are invited to put their
gifts. Representatives of Assembly

Angora sweaters are rapidly be-
coming merely another tombstone in
the graveyard of women's fashions.
The relegation of those fuzzy,
wuzzy sweaters, that used to adorn
the campus belles in great profusion,
to the realm of bustles, hoop skirts,
ruffled blouses, and the rest of the
outmoded frills has come about
through a combination, of various
reasons.
It is claimed on good authority
that angoras have, a pronounced ten-
dency to make the wearer look fubsy
(if you haven't time to look this one
up, it means plump). As all we girls
know, to look fubsy is one of the
things we don't want most.
Another valid objection is that they
are inclined to shed. After all, who
can be endearingly effeminate,, cool
and calm, and everything else a girl
is supposed to be on a date, if one
is overburdened with nasty, old de-
pressing thoughts about your sweat-
