THE MICHIGAN DAILY A T H E M I C I G A NPAAEY NIN E Ghostly Fearful Dance To Be Given By Congress Grim Strains Of Bill Sawyer's Mournful Music Will Be Heard Over Station WJR At Midnight The grim and ghostly gathering of the gloomy tribe of galloping ghouls will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. today in the ballroom of the Union, under the auspices of Congress, and for the general consternation and discomfort of the ghastly guests. Bill Sawyer and his orchestra will play for "Coffin Capers", an informal, open affair, and WJR, frightened by the fearful face of Rigor Mortis, has consented to broadcast the sorrowful strains of Sawyer's mournful music from midnight until 12:30, Opera Preview Arranged Chan Pinney, '41E, star of the Union Opera - that organization which so rudely ejected Mortis from its rehearsal -will sing a preview of two of the opera songs, "Your Page In My Memories Is Blue" and "A Dream And I Went Walking". A dance team, resurrected from the country churchyard, has undergone a process of thorough reconditioning, and will be in fit enough condition to perform several waltzes and rhumbas. The decorative plan for the dance will incorporate such objets d'art as gravestones, pearly gates and skele- tons. The coffin, originally intended to be placed in the center of the room, will be omitted because of a state law which insists that no one who is not thoroughly dead may be placed in a coffin. Mother-In-Law Refused Mortis wished to thank the gentle- man who offered the services of his mother-in-law to fill the coffin, but regrets that he. will be unable to use her, since the woman is not yet dead and the process of reducing her to such a state - although it might be . enjoyable - will, nevertheless, break another law. Although Congress, the Indepen- dent Men's Association, is sponsoring the dance, it will be open to anyone who wishes to attend. Tickets will be on sale at the travel desk of the Union, until just before the time of the dance. They are priced at $1.25 a couple. Future corpses will pay the same price as the now deceased. _ ..
