Engineers' Work To Be Exhibited At 'Open House' Plans are being made this week by the Engineering Council for an "Open House" in the College of Engineering sometime next April to show the rest of the campus what the various sci- entific clubs are doing and to ex- hibit the work being carried on in several of the technical departments. A committee has been appointed by the Council to make arrangements for the affairs headed by co-chair- man Robert Summerhays, '42E, and Robert Bishop, '41E. Others in the group are Verne Kennedy, '42E, and John Tietjen, '41E. During the past three years "Open House" has consisted mainly of ex- hibits qf clubs and departments in which such things as new scientific discoveries, awards, publications, new mechanical devices and the like were displayed. Pres. Gideonse Accusses CP Of 'Using' Colleges Dr. Harry D. Gideonse, head of Brooklyn College, told a-joint legisla- tive committee investigating subver- sive activies in the schools that the Communist Party "deliberately uses" colleges in New York City as "sound- ing boards for its activities." Dr. Gideonse said he was convinced that the "overwhelming majority" of students and faculty was anti-com- munist.
