Friday is Tag Day - the day on which students and townspeople are asked to contribute to a fund to send. underprivileged children to the Uni- versity Fresh Air Camp on the shores of Lake Patterson. On that day stu- dent volunteers wil patrol the campus and down town districts, and in re- turn for any contribution will give the famous tag with the picture of "the boy on the diving board." A goal of $1,500 has been set for' this year's drive by Prof. F. N. Mene- fee, of the mechanical engineering' department, director of the camp.. This is almost $400 above the amountI taken in last year, about $1,100. LastI year 260 boys were enabled to spend years now, with contributions in the past ranging from $700 to $2,100. It has been estimated that students contribute annually 20 per cent of the; funds used to send the boys to camp., Though changing in location, man- agement and personnel often, the Camp has always remained steadfast to its"one purpose - to return after four weeks to their community un- derprivileged boys "not only strong- er physically but better adjusted so- cially and emotionally." Campus organizations have coop- erated with the drive committee in the past, and will be requested to do, so again this year. Some of the organ- izations that helped in .the campaign last year were Assembly, the League Houses, Wyvern, Scroll, Mortar Board, Senior Society, Union, LF.C., Dorm- itories, Congress, the Cooperative Houses, "M" Club, the various honor- ary societies and Alpha Phi Omega. At the head of this year's drive is Bert Ludy, '42. Other members of the committee are Don Harness, '43E, publicity; Grace Volkman, '42, and Lin Buck, '42E, girls' organizations; Robert G. Shedd, '42, boys' organiza- tions; Earle Harris, '44, collections; Gertrude French, '41, merchants; end Irving Koval, '42E, service. Previously the drive has taken place in two days, but this year's cam- paign will be confined to one day, Friday. On that day not only the cam- pus, but downtown districts will be canvassed. Letters have been sent to the var- ious organizations on campus\asking them to provide students to man the stations at which collections will be made. The lists of organizations and the students that will be at the sta- tions Friday will be announced in The Daily later in tthe week.
