Will Be Tempo For Dancing Ticket Sales Open For Annual Business Administration School Formal To Be Held At Union Jack Teagarden and his orchestras will greet the first day of Spring in Ann Arbor, when they play for the Capitalist Ball, to be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, March 21, in the! Union. Medium swing tempo, with empha- sis on the melodic, is the style of music for which Teagarden's orches-1 tra is famed. Danceable rhythm, Tickets for the Capitalist Ball will be placed on sale Tuesday. They may be purchased at the Union, Wahr's bookst'ore or from members of the dance committee. rather than out-and-out "jitterbug" swing, is its forte., Teagarden, who plays the trom- bone, was known long before he or- ganized his band, just about two years ago. Brought up in the blues tradi- tion of the southwest, he began his orchestral career by playing with such bands as Red Nichols, Ben Pollack1 and Paul Whiteman. He left White- man to form his own orchestra. The orchestra will bring with it a number of soloists-both instru- mental and vocal. Teagarden, whose trombone playing is one of the out- standing features of the band, will also handle some of the vocals. Capitalist Ball is the annual dance presented by members of the School of Business Administration.
