Why thousands of otherwise sensible women have taken to their heart such an unaesthetic piece of footge r is more than one can pos- sibly understand. College women, realizing that new saddles suggest a tennis game in sum- mer rather than long hours of tramps to classes through slushy streets, let their shoes tecome as filthy as pos-. sible, proudly boasting that they have never cleaned them. - Thus they sub- stitute sloppiness for style. To add insult to injury, nothing gives a woman greater joy than to be able to wear her beloved saddles out on a date. No longer does she care to impress her man by a stunning out- fit. The only hope for a new day in footwear is that more men form "Thank God For Sunday, Because on Sunday Women Do Not Wear Saddle Shoes" clubs. Union Ballroom Will Be SeeAe fClass Dance Late Permission Granted Women; Orchestra And Theme Will Be Chosen Frosh Frolic, one of the four big class dances of the year, will be held from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, March 1 in the Union ballroom. Frosh Frolic will be the second class dance of the year to have late permission granted. The theme and orchestra of the Frolic will be announced at a later date, Gibson said. Tommy Tucker and his orchestra played for the dance last year. A nautical theme of decorations, centering around a large pilot's wheel, was used, and guests were required to enter the ball- room by a gangplank. Ship's railings were placed around the band-stand ind the patrons' and chaperons' booths. Color Scheme Was Nautical The color scheme was worked out in the nautical hues of blue and white, with the metal programs of.l silver and blue also carrying out the theme of decorations. The price of the tickets and the date of the ticket sale will be an- nou'nced at a later date, but as the number of tickets to be sold is limit- ed, couples are urged to plan on get- ting their admission early. The ticket sale will be limited to freshmen, but if there are any admis- sions left over, upperclassmen may9 also attend the dance, Gibson said. Over 350 'couples attended Frosh f Frolic, which is the annual fresh- man class dance, last year. Not that we like changing the sub- ject-but have you noticed the li- brary situation lately? It's getting so bad people are skipping dessert to get a ring-side seat near the book- desk, and outside reading lists are im- possible. It brings out the wolf in us to watch the man ahead get the book we waited two hours for. Our candidate for Sorriest Man of the Week is the lad who went through educational psychology and the his- tory of education in order to get Mc- Clusky for dessert, and then had him accept that job with the something- or-ndthing organization for next se- mester. Second in line is the Ec major who has to have nine hours of international trade to graduate, and who can only get eight since they cancelled a course. League To Adopt New Records To0" Credit Activity Participation In an effort to credit every woman' fully with the interest she has shown in League activity participation, the1 League Council has adopted a new form sheet which will be used by com- mittee chairmen to keep an accurate record of the quality of work done by committee members. These records will be filed in Miss McCormick's office with each wo- man's activity record and will be re- ferred to by the Judiciary Council as an aid in selecting women for com- mittee chairmanships. A separate report will be filed for each League activity in which she participates. "Such a record will give each wo- man credit for her work regardless of the importance of her particular ance, leadership qualities , original- ity and dependability. It is interesting to note that this form of recording interests shown through activity participation arose out of the trouble's of the committee chairmen of Capricorn Capers' in try- ing to judge the work done by their committeewomen. Jeanne Grant, '41, recording chair- man for the dance, thereby originated this form sheet in order to give each of the chairmen a definite basis upon which to report upon the work done by the members of her committee.
