Dressy sweaters for evening or af-
ternoon make very welcome Christ-
mas presents, These can be made or
bought. One sweater is made with a
yarn of black silk mixed with rayon.
The sweater looks like glossy curly fur
and would look equally nice for af-
ternoon or evening wear. There is
also a dusty pink sweater made of
silk binding which becomes all crink-
ly when fashioned into a sweater.
There are shaggy brushed wool sweat-
ers, wool sweaters with attachable
hoods, and close fitting ones with a
zipper down the back.
Plaid And Tweed Favorites
Skirts make nice gifts, if the giver
knows the correct size and preferre~d
style. Plaid and tweed skirts are this
season's favorite. An unusual com-
bination is pink and green plaid.
This skirt has box pleats. 'Then
there are plaids which are fondly
called horse blanket plaids. A shirt
of this type comes in turkey red and
bright green.
A dashing skirt of brown, beige,
and rust plaid will lighten a dull win-
ter day. A green and black plaid
skirt is also a gay addition to any-
one's wardrobe, and would not showy
the spots. Grey, yellow, and white
are combined effectively in a plaid
skirt with narrow stripes of -ea~ch
color.
This season has produced many
striking color combinations, and in
keeping with that idea is a black a.nl
green plaid skirt with pleats around
the entire skirt and. a blue band 1 ing
horizontally on the skirt. Then t:'e
is a turquoise and brown plaid skirt
with a narrow green line which w ould
go nicely with 'a brown or yellow
sweater.

New Ski Sutits
Are Adaptable I
To Manty Uses
Even the southern girls will be
requesting ski suits in their figura-
tive Christmas stockings this sea-
son. Adaptable, comfortable, attrac-
tive, and suitable are all adjectives
of veracity when applied to the var-
ied versions of this type garment.
Particularly in the swing of the
original purpose of the ski suit are
are light clover cloth models of na-
tural hue. Although extremenly fea-
thery in weight, the warmth these
provide is all out of proportion to
their seeming thinness of texture.
Easy to manipulate along with a
pair of skis, or skates, or horses
hitched to cutters, .the loosely draped
clover cloth styles facilitate freedom
of action.
The natural color -lends itself to
splashes of violent accessories, red,
green, bright blue, or canary yellow.
With an assortment of hats, scarves,
mittens, and :socks, one outfit can
be changed to four or five.
Hooded models, in keeping with
the season's covered hair tendencies,
are definitely in the front ranks.
Although the attached head-pieces
are not quite as comfortable as sep-
arate ?pelmets, their soft warm inner-
linings keep the ears a shade of pink
instead of a frost-bitten-red. Usually
of material matching the ski suit
proper, they are sometimes made
to contrast with a navy or brown
outfit.
