At Weekly Dances Leroy Smith, colored band-leader, will present his 14-piece outfit at the regular weekend dances to be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., today, and from 9 p.m. to midnight, tomorrow, at the League. A special feature of the dances will be ensemble singing by the whole group, featuring Henry Warren, drummer, who also specializes in soft-shoe dancing. . Smith and the orchestra have Just finished a 17-week run at the May- fair Casino in Cleveland. They also have played with Ethel Waters ini "Rhapsody in Black," in 1932-33 and' in "Connie's Hot Chocolates" in 1936. Other engagements filled by the, band include the Paradise Roof in New York City, the LaMarne and the Atlantic Casino in Atlantic City and the Club Ciro in London, England. Dances Will Be Held Despite 'Away' Game loekey Games Begin Saturday Women Of Lake District To Meet At Palmer Field Womenrhockey players represent- ing the Great Lakes district will hold their annual tournament tomorrow and Sunday at Palmer Field. Teams will be entered from Pitts- burgh; Beaver Valley, Pa.; Buffalo, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Ham- tramck and Ann Arbor. Several of the districts are entering more than one team, so that 10 teams in all will participate. An annual event, this is the third time that the tourna- ment has been played in Ann Arbor. The individual winners of this series of contests will make up two teams which will be known as the Great Lakes Team and the Great Lakes Reserves. They will compete in the National Hockey Tournament which, will be held at the end of this month in Cleveland.
