Edmonson-Lewis Rites
The marriage of Jane Elizabeth
 Edmonson, daughter of Dean and
Mrs. James B. Edmonson of Cam-
ridge- Rd., and Donald King Lewis,
son of Mis. C. K. Lewis of Mt. Pleas-
at and the late Mr. Lewis, took
place in the First Presbyterian
church, Aug. 9. Dr. William P. Lem-
on, pastor of the church, read the
service.
Mrs. Lewis' bridesmaids were the
Misses Judy Trosper, '37, Betty Anne
Beebe, '37, Viginla Graham and
Jean Bonisteel, '38, of Ann Arbor;
Kathleen Nelson of Chicago and Co-
lumbia, Mo., and Mary Margaret
Campbell, '38, of Detroit.
James B. Douglas of Detroit, a
senior in the medical school this
year, acted as best man. The ushers
for the wedding were Dr. William G.
Niiolls of :ontiac, Nathan Munro
of Jackson, John W. Strayer of Bu-
chanan. Others assisting were Ern-
et Monroe of Mt. Pleasant, Richard
V. Lewis, brother of the bridegroom,
and Donald C. Edmonson, brother of
tie bride.
Mrs. Lewis took a year of graduate
work in psychiatric-social service in
the University of Chicago, following
her graduation here in 1937, and
studied in the graduate school here.
She is a member of Kappa Kappa
Gamma and was president of the al-
umnae chapter this year.
Mr. Lewis received his bachelor of
science degree in 1936. He is a senior
In the medical school and belongs to
Ihi Delta Theta and Nu Sigma Nu
fraternities.

Betty Gatward Engaged ,
Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Gatward
of Britton Dr., Detroit, have an-
nounced the engagement of their
daughter, Betty Jean, to Lieut. James
L Mueller, U.S.M.R. of Quantico, Va.
aueller is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Moritz L. Mueller of Grosse Pointe.
Miss Gatward attended the Uni-
versity and was woman's editor of the
Michiganensian. She was president
of Mortarboard and was affiliated
with Pi Beta Phi. Lieut. Mueller re-
ceived his degree from Washington
Dniversity in Seattle and is a mem-
ber of Beta Theta Pi.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Telin of Mil-
waukee have announced the engage-
ment of their daughter, Mary Jane,
to Dr. L. W. Bristol, son of Mr. and
Mrs. L. W. Bristol of Detroit. The
VWedding will take place. Nov. 4. '
The bride-elect graduated from
towa State and is affiliated with
Delta Delta Delta. Dr. Bristol has
degrees from Bucknell and the Uni-
versity of Michigan. He belongs to
Phi Gamma Delta and Delta Sigma
.4elta fraternities.j

Ann Timmons To Wed
Announcement has been made of
the engagement of Ann Timmons,7
daughter of Mr. Charles Ansel Tim-
ions and the late Mrs. Timmons, to
Charles Royal Burgess, son of Mr.
aid Mrs. William F. Burgess of
Auntington Woods. The dte set
for the wedding is Oct. -20.
Both are University graduates,
Miss Timmons in 1936 and Mr. Bur-
gess in 1964. She is affiliated with
Rappa Alpha Theta, while he is a
Member of Delta Tau Delta and was
president of Vulcans.-

The marriage of Dorothy McIntyre
of Long Beach, Calif., and John M.
Brumm, son of Prof. and Mrs. John'
L. Brumm of Ann Arbor took place
in Berkley, Calif., on July 30.
Mrs. Brumm graduated from the
University of Southern California and
Mr. Brumm is a graduate of the'Uni-

The marriage of Jean Alice Ruth-
erford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Douglas Rutherford of Birming-
ham, to James Barber Talman, son
of" Mr. and Mrs. William Whitney
Talman, took place Sept. 2 in Christ
Church, Cranbrook.
Mr. Talman graduated from the
College of Engineering in 1939, and
is a member of Sigma Phi. Mrs.
Talman attended the University and
is affiliated with Kappa Alpha
Theta.

The wedding of Mary Jane Mueller,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moritz L.
Mueller of Detroit, and Thomas
Robert Faragher, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur W. Faragher of Seattle,
took place Sept. 2.
Mrs. Faragher graduated from the
University of Michigan in 1938. She
is a member of Pi Beta Phi and was
treasurer of Mortar Board and vice-
president of the Michigan League.

The marriage of Harriet Breay,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Breay of Ann Arbor, to Rev. Earl
Philps Sawyer of Lapeer, son of Mr.
P. N. Sawyer of Redford, took
place Sept. 8 in the First Method-
ist church in Ann Arbor.
Mrs. Sawyer graduated from the
University in 1937 and is a member
of Kappa Phi.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Gustave Oster-
mann of Bloomfield Hills have an-
nounced the engagement of their
daughter, Alice Henderson, to Frank
Neville Smith, of Detroit and Fort
Worth, Texas, son of Dr. and Mrs.
Frank P. Smith.
Miss Ostermann is a graduate of
the University and is affiliated with
Gamma Phi Beta' Mr. Smith is a
member of Phi Delta.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin W. Hecker of
Grosse Pointe have announced the
engagement of their daughter, Grace
Helene, to John Carnegie Wills, son
of'Mr. and Mrs. C. Harold Wills.
Mr. Wills attended the School of
Mines at Houghton, Mich. and the
University. He is a member of the
American Society of Mechanical En-
gineers and Delta Kappa Epsilon fra-
ternity. Miss Hecker attended Liggitt
School and Mary Baldwin and is a
member of Tau Beta.

O'Ferrall, '37, daughter of the Very
Rev. and Mrs. Kirk B. O'Ferrall of
Lakeland Ave., Grosse Pointe, and
Fred Wemmer Gooding of Lima, O.,
will take place Oct. 21 in St. Paul's
Episcopal Cathedral in Detroit
Miss O'Ferrall is affiliated with
Collegiate Sorosis. She was class
secfetar' and vice-president of the
Michigan League.

Announcement has been made of
the marriage of Elizabeth Weaver
Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.
F. Evans, to Albert L. Hartsig, jr.
'36, of Newport News, Va., son of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Hartsig of
Wilshire Drive, Detroit.
The bride is a graduate of the Uni-
versity and the University Hospital
School of Nursing. She is affiliated
with Alpha Omicron Pi.

Andrus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Andrus of Lansing, to Dr. Jack

Jacoby, '38M, of Detroit, son of Mrs.
A. L. Jacoby of Ann Arbor and the
late Dr. Jacoby, took place Sept. 10.
Mrs. Jacoby graduated from the
University in 1938 and is affiliated
with Delta Delta Delta. She was
woman's business manager of the
Michiganensiai. 'Dr. Jacoby belongs
to Sigma Chi- and Phi Rho Sigm
fraternities.

marriage of Richard B. Pollman, '36A,
nephew of Dr. and Mrs. Herbert W.
Emerson of the Washtenaw apart-
ments, to Miss Elizabeth Secord of
Detroit on Friday, Sept. 8.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Shierson
of Detroit have announced the en-
gagement of their daughter, Eliza-
beth, to Alphonse H. Aymand, jr., of,
Chicago. The wedding will take
take place on Saturday, Sept. 30, in
the Grace chapel of St. Paul's cathe-
dral in Detroit.
Both Miss Shierson and Mr. Ay-
mand are University graduates. She
is affiliated with Alpha Phi and he
is a member of Delta Phi.

daughter of Mrs. E. E. Dawes of
Crescent Hill, Niles, and Stewart G.
Armitage, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W.
Armitage of Oxford, N.H., took place
on Sept. 4 in Niles.
Mr. Armitage attended Union Col-
lege at Schenectady, N.Y., and is a
member of Chi Psi fraternity. He re-
ceived bachelor and master of science
degrees from the University and is
completing his work here for a Doctor
of Science degree in psychology-

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank G.
Smith of Lake Linden, to Dr. Leland
Stanford McCleery of E. Washington
St., son of the late Judge and Mrs.
C. W. McCleery of Lancaster, 0., took
place Saturday, Sept. 2 in Misha-
waka, Ind.
Mrs. McCleery is a graduate of the
School of Nursing and has been em-
ployed on the staff of the hospital
since her graduation. Dr. McCleery
is a graduate of Ohio University and
of the Kirksville College of Osteo-
pathy and Surgery at Kirksville, Mo.
and starred on the football and track
teams of Ohio University for several
years. He is a member of Ohio Gam-
ma chapter of Phi Delta Theta.

Miss Martha Stuckey of Detroit,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry N.
Stuckey of Wauseon, and Floyd Well-
ington Hartmann, Jr., son of Dr. and
Mrs. Floyd W. Hartmann of Wauseon,

5 in the Michigan League chapel.

Miss Voigt attended Ward-Bel-

Wedding Date Set
The date of the wedding of Jane
Servis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Howard H. Servis of Detroit, and
William Robbins Rudell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. William A. Rudell of Sault
Ste. Marie, Mich., has been set' for
Oct. 7.
Miss Servis attended the University
and graduated in 1936. She is 'af-
filiated with Collegiate Sorosis.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur '.'
Kappler, of Pentwater, to Bernard
E. Konopka, of Detroit, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Konopka took
place Aug. 19.
Mrs. Konopka graduated from the
University and is affiliated with Zeta
Tau Alpha. Mr. Konopka is a grad-
uate of Michigan and received his
degree from the Law School in 1937.

The wedding of Marion Reynolds,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney
Reynolds of Howard City, and
George Croft Thomas, son of Mr.
and Mrs. William S. Thomas of
Ferndale, took place Aug. 19.
Mrs. Thomas is a graduate of the
University and Mr. Thomas of Michi-
gan State College.
The marriage of Miss Evelyn Kal-
sky of Berkley, Calif., daughter of

Mr. and Mrs. John Kalsky of Los
Angeles, to Dr. Woodburn. K. Lamb,
of Berkley, formerly of Ann Arbor,
son of Dr. and Mrs. Edward T.- Lamb
of Alma, Mich., took place Aug. 15
at Reno, Nev.
Dr. Lamb received his A.B. and
medical degrees from the University
of Michigan ahd is a member of Nu
Sigma Nu. Mrs. Lamb is a graduate
of the University of California.
Miss Mary Jane Hamelton, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs Coello Hamelton
of Plymouth, and' J. Kenneth Greer,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Oieer,
were married in Plymouth on Aug. 25.
Mrs. Greerattended Bowling Green
State Colle gem Ohio and the Uni-
versity,' and Mr. Greer graduated
here.
