JEROME KERWIN Wolverine To Dance Class Under Elva Begin Series Pascoe "Glamor Girl' To Alice Goon' Is Show'Idea There has been talk that there is a certain type of girl called "Alice The Goon." Now far be it from us to sug- gest that such a person actually ex- ists on our campus, but never-the- less, a search is being carried on at this point to discover how this sort of person would dress, how she would look and how she would act. The style show sponsored by TheS Daily and the Ann Arbor merchants4 to be held Friday, Nov. 10 at the League plans to demonstrate how one of Michigan's glamour girls may be transformed into a "psuedo goon gal" by a few deft changes in her manner, costume and hair style. The sponsors of the style show are seeking volunteers to portray the part although our glamor girl will cer- tainly be not one when the stylists have finished with her. Anyone wish- ing to take this part in the style show' certainly will bewelcomed by those sponsoring the show. If you have any ideas, or if any of your friends have on the subject of what goes into the making of a "goon gal," they will be welcomed with open arms at The Daily. These ideas may not be of an extreme sort but rather the typical flaws in our dress and manner that make us eligible for the, role of a goon. Bill Sawyer's orchestra is scheduled to furnish the music for the style show to be held in the League. Assembly Banquet Theme Is Chosen "Declaration of Independents" will be the theme of the annual Assembly Banquet which will be held Monday, Nov. 6, in the League ballroom. It was incorrectly announced in yes- terday's Daily as "Declaration of Independence." Over 600 women are expected to at- tend the now traditional affair, which attendance will set a new record. Tickets for the banquet are now on sale and may be secured from mem- bers of the ticket committee who will visit the women's dormitories and each League house on campus. Start- ing tomorrow and continuing through Friday, tickets will also be on sale at the Assembly ticket booth Plans for the opening of a "Hobby House" on this campus are being formulatea by the Women's Athletic. Association. Located in the former Palmer Field House, the proposed project will be at the disposal of all women wishing to follow some hobby in the field of handicrafts. To Use Old Field House Since the opening of the Women's Athletic Building in 1928, the former field house which is situated near the tennis courts on Palmer Field, has been used to house athletic equip- ment. It has now been given to the Women's Athletic Association for the purpose of starting a campus handi- crafts center there. Only the first floor of this two story building will be decorated at the present time. It is hoped by the Women's Athletic Association that the growth of campus interest in the project will warrant the decoration and furnishing of the second floor in the near future. Harriet Sharkey, '40, president of the Women's Athletic Association has appointed a committee composed of Jane Brichan, '40, Margaret Van Ess, '41, and Ruth Allen, '41, to formulate a tentative program for the coming year. To Be Open Every Day This committee has suggested that "Hobby House" be opened for several hours every afternoon and have a social hour on one day a week. Stu- dent specialists in various fields of craftsmanship will be asked to vol- unteer as tutors and demonstrators. Miss Marie Hartwig, faculty ad- WAA To Hold Hobby House' As Project In Athletic Buiildi The first in a series of classes in modern ballroom dancing will start at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Michigan Wolverine, Elva Pascoe, assistant in the classes, announced yesterday.
