Party To Honor 22 Sophomore Women Today High Scholastic Average Needed For Invitation To 'Smarty' Luncheon' All sophomore women who have attained a half "A", half "B" scholas- tic average for the past semester will be entertained at Mortar Board's annual "Smarty Party" at 12:30 p.m. today at the League. "Hitch Your Wagon To A Star" is the theme of the party which twenty-two sophomore women will attend today. The table decorations which have been planned by Roberta Moore, '40, in charge of the party, will be flower-filled wagons attached by ribbons to star center pieces. Prof. John L. Brumm will be the speaker at the luncheon. Dean Alice Lloyd and Mrs. Carl Litzenberg, fac- ulty advisors to Mortar Board, will attend the party, as will Miss Ethel McCormick. Fellowship Is Offered By Alpha Lambda Delta Spring Fashions Favor Trini Suits Senior Women To Hold First Bridge Today Physical Education Class To Give Funds For Trip Of Convention Delegates Fifteen door prizes have been do- nated by local merchants to the com- mittee in charge of the bridge spon- sored by senior women in the Phyji- cal Education Department. The bridge, which will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the League, is a class project under the chairmanship of Mary May Scoville, '40Ed. The purpose of the affair is to raise enough money to send class delegates to the convention which will be held in Chicago this spring. There will be door prizes such as hose, men's handkerchiefs, toilet ar- ticles, blouses, candy, suspenders, plants and stationery which will be given after a drawing. In addition to these door prizes there 'will be a table prize for every bridge table. All of these prizes are now on dis- play at Barbour Gymnasium. There will be 100 tables of bridge set up in the Kalamazoo and Ethel Hussy rooms of the League. Both men and women are invited to at- tend the party. No advance reserva- tion is necessary, for people can come directly to the bridge and play without any prearranged reserva- tion. However, if ticket reservations are desired for those who wish a reserved table, these may be obtained by calling either Barbour Gymna- si im or Sally Orr at 5718. Tickets are priced at 25 cents per person. This is the first undertaking of its kind--that is, a project by the senior women of the Physical Education Department, and it has been said that if this plan succeeds, more such projects will be carried through in future years. March Birthday Dinner Held At Stockwell Hall A special dinner was held Thursday at Stockwell Hall to celebrate the birthdays of all dormitory residents whose births occurred in March. The play deals with the return of Christ. coo perative House Wil llbd Informal Independents' Tea An informal tea for all indepen- dent women interested in lower living costs, and other advantages of coop- erative group living, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Alice Palmer Cooperative House, 1511 Washtenaw Ave., according to Betty Zunk, '42, chairman of the personnel committee. Residents of the Cooperative -House will be hostesses at the tea. All wo- men interested are invited to attend. Guests will be shown through the House and the working plan for co- operative living will be explained, Miss Zunk said. Application blanks will be avail- able for those who would like to live in the House next semester. The fellowship is open to all mem- bers of Alpha Lambda Delta who have maintained their high iverage during their college course, and who received an A.B. degree not later than June, 1940. The applicant must be a candidate for a graduate degree.
