Soft, light wool has come into ilts
own as the ideal material for those
doubtful occasions when it would be
a social error to be overdressed and
yet something more formal than
sports wear is called for. In fact, wool
dresses may be used to bridge the gap
between the informal and the dressy
so successfully that they have be-
come as essential part of every ward-
robe.
Simplicity is the keynote of style
in wool. One particular model in teal
blue is tailored with a high neck and
a zipper in back. The only trim con-
sist of metallic pockets of triangular
shape. Another model has a zipper
from hem to a "V" neckline in front,
and its most distinctive feature is its
brilliant magenta color.
Blue Wool With Organdie
The wool dress field is not lacking
in the old-fashioned note which is so
noticeable in fashion trends today.
One model in blue wool has a fitted
waistline and full skirt of fine pleats.
The effect is completed by an im-
maculte organdie guimpe.
Contrast in light and dark shades
of the same color has been achieved

in grays and blues. One model with
gray top and black skirt follows a
dirndl style. Another in light and
dark blue is more sophisticated with
a swing skirt and fitted top. A yel-
low leather belt completes the en-
semble.
Buttons Lend Individuality w
Buttons have played an important
part in contributing to the indivi-
duality of a design. Heart shapes and
dog cut outs,, not to mention nuts
and coins are often used as the out-
standing beature of a tailored wool.
Shades of green, rust and brown have
been most often chosen for this
treatment.
Plaids cannot be forgotten in a dis-
cussion of the fool world. The usual
red plaid with green, blue, and yel-
low contrast is as popular as ever
with other colors entering the field
as the foundations for the design.
Brown and blue plaids have proed
pavrticularly popular, while the sil-
ver of the dresses have branched out
from the usual tailored type to prin-
cess and dirndie lines.
Finally black wool must be men-
tioned as having great potentialies.
it is particularly effective with white
trim. One model has a dirndl skirt
and white callors and cuffs. Another
number has a cluster of silver bells
at the neckline to set off a shirt-
waist style.
