Adventurers, Litterateurs, And Statesrmen Give Variety To Hill Auditorium Lectures Students, faculty members and townspeople will once again this year have an opportunity to hear a distinguished program of lectures, Spon. sored, as usual, by the University of Michigan Oratorical Association, such well-known, international figures as Alexander Woollcott, Dr. Paul van Zeeeland, former premier of Belgium and Lord Strabolgi, English statesman, will head a list which offers diversified entertainment and reliable informative material to the listener. Besides this internationally known trio, Col. W. Stewart Roddie, will deliver his "European Mosaic"; R. H. Bruce' Lockhart, author of Brit- ish Agent, will tell how "An Englishman looks at the World"; Capt. Warwick Tompkins will present his motion picture account of '"West Around the Horn"; Capt. C. W. R. Knight will make a return engage- ment and Harrison Forman willre port on his adventures in Tibet. Admission to the lectures will again be small, with two prices, 75 cents for the main floor and 50 cents for the balcony. Because of the attractions' importance the scale will change to $1.00 and 75 cents for Woollcott and van Zeeland. The return of Alexander Woollcott to the Hill Auditorium ;platform is one that has been demanded by Oratorical clients. On his last appear- ance here two years ago, the author of "While Rome Burns" captivated a capacity audience with his anecdotes of the great and near great. For the serious minded, Dr. van Zeeland's appearance is one of the most important in recent year. Author of the famous van Zeeland World Trade Report and the man who steered the Belgium ship of state through several troubled years, van Zeeland has a wide reputation as a speaker and intellectual. 7. 8. Dr. Paul van Zeeland Dr. Paul van Zeeland is probably the outstanding figure among the younger generation of European statesmen. His rapid rise in the world of finance marked him early as a person of remarkable abilities. His Report on World Trade was universally acknowledged as being of great value. Harrison Forman, contributor to such magazines as Harpers, The Readers Digest and National Geo- graphic, will end the lecture series with his tales of adventure in Tibet, upon which he is a recognized auth- ority. It was Forman who acted as technical advisor for the film etLost Horizon" and he has what critics describe as "an interesting story and vivid motion pictures" of the mys- terious eastern land around which the film was centered.
