Teas and dinners and then more dinners and the question is, what to; wear? Don't let it awe you for the answer is really very simple. For the first initial teas, Saturday, every thing is casual. Spectator sport clothes predominate. Ideal for that teal would be a tailored sport dress of wool, with coarse tucks on the shoulders and broad pleats that are stitched to six inches below the hips but flare out from there and give freedom for that campus stride you will soon acquire. This dress would be smart in black with buttons and belt of plum or shudder green. A dressy sport hat, without the veil would be in good taste and would look smooth in black or plum with shoes to match. Tailored suits are also in good taste for this first tea, with dressy oxfords and contrasting accessories. Zippers are still very much the rage and would look well on a light weight wool dress with short sleeves, .puffed up rather than out. The entire dress is ribbed and would lend height. It has a tailored collar and a black patent leather belt to contrast with the teal blue material. The zipper is gold and ends with three gold flowers at the neck. Spectator sport suede shoes in black would look well with this dress and would match the perky tricon hat that sits over one eye at a rakish angle. Don't wear sweater and skirt to this first tea and don't wear saddle shoes, no matter how clean they are, and don't let them stay clean for long if you expect to rate in Ann Arbor. Enough of the don'ts. For the Sunday teas be a little more on the dressy side. Veiled hats are fine and dressy suede or kid shoes will look well. One of the latest shoes this season is the suede lastex pump in black and all the new fall colors. Leave your pig skin gloves at home and don the extra special kid for this is the time when you must shine. As far as dresses go, the Sunday teas demand the same as do the rush- ing dinners that will follow. Stay away from tailored clothes. Velvet, dressy wools, crepe, silks, and vel- veteen are the latest and will add that touch of charm so needed at this time. A perfect dress for Sun- day and the rushing dinners would be a mossy rayon crepe with short sleeves puffed up rather than out. It is shirred in the front from the high neck to the broad waist band. At the neck and waist are two gold fig leaf clips that brighten it up and give a touch of the feminine to the full skirt. The versatility of velveteen makes it ideal for rushing. One particular dress in mind is collarless and is cut on princess lines with a flaired skirt. It has lingerie trim tucked cozily between a double row of velveteen buttons that reach from the neck to the hem. The sleeves are short and are set off by the same lingerie trim.
