TonfldenitMichigan Track Team
Awaits Invasion Of Ohio Squad

1I MGolf Tourney
Set For Tomorrow
The Intramural-Golf Tournament,

;, . .,

By HERM EPSTEIN
The Ohio State track team comes to
town tomorrow to take a long-delayed
trimming at the hands of Charlie
Hoyt 's Big. Ten Champions. The
meet, which was scheduled between
the two teams for March 3, literally
"flu" out of existence, as too many
members of the squads were ill to al-
low any kind; of a contest.
At :the beginning of the season the
Buckeye coach Larry Snyder said,
"Michigan ,is twice as good as any
other. team in the Conference," and
the Wolverines for once want to live
up to his judgment. Though the
meet itself will not be too hotly con-
tested,. there will be plenty of close
races as the Bucks boast several out-
standing performers.
Relay Is Featuu-e
The mile relay will, of course, be
the piece de resistance, as two of the
finest, quartets . in. the country meet
in what should be a record-shatter-
ing duel. The Bucks' 3-14.1 perfor-
mance places them in the favorites'
position, but Ross Faulkner and his
three sophomore running. mates have
plenty,.of. speed up their legs and
stand a good, chance of turning the
tables in their favor.
The .meeting between Bob Lewis,
Ohio's 22G, yard conference dash,
champion- and Michigan's Al Smith
will, provide more fireworks for the
fan who likes his races close. Lewis-
ran 9.8 and 21.1 respectively for the
100 and 220 last Saturday, while
Smith was. doing 9.9 and 21.6.
Close Quarter-Mile
No matter who runs in the 440, the
race will finish under the proverbial
blanket. Howells, Sulzman. and Co-
operrider for the Buekeyes and Breid-
enbach, Faulkner, Balyeat, Leutritz
and Hayes for the Wolverines will fur-
nish one of the best groups of quar-
ter milers that has gathered for any
purpose this. year.
In the two mile, Jim Whittaker of
Ohio will be .the underdog despite
his being the indoor title holder.

Whittaker has done thus far indicates will tee off. Other foursomes will fol-
that he will be able to do very much low, teeing off at seven .minute in-
about it. tervals, until 4 p.m.

Eisenhart Is Fast
Len Eisenhart, sophomore half mil-
er, ran 1:54.8 as the Bucks lost to
Notre Dame last week, and that-effort
promises a fine duel with Hod Da-
vidson, Dye Hogan and Tommy Jes-
'er of the Wolverin's.
Another recent development which
presaged action has been abandoned
to save Jack Sulzman for the mile re-
lay,. Sulzman ran the low hurdles
for the first time last Saturday and
won in 23.9, breaking Jesse Owens'
meet mark. However,*Coach Snyder
is much more anxious to win that
relay than to bring the score a little
closer, so Stan Kelley and Jeff Hall
will have things their own way over
the barriers.
Paul Keller Hurls Psi U
To Win In Softall Game
In a hard fought battle which was
a replay of a protested game, Psi U
trimmed Alpha Tau Omega 4-3 yes-
terday in a fraternity league contest.
Paul Keller, Psi U speed-ball hurler
bested Ken Meyer in this pitching,
duel.
Ford Whipple pitched Beta Theta
Pi to a 4-2 victory against Delta Upsi-
lon, while Hermitage dropped Tau
Kappa Epsilon from the second place
playoffs, 10-6.

Over 40 five man teams, represent-
ing fraternities,, graduates, independ-
ents, and faculty members, will all
compete tomorrow for the champion-
ship in their respective divisions,.Last
year's winner inthe Fraternity divi-
sion was Psi Upsilon, with a four
man total:of 346. The Graduate Tro-
phy was won by the Law Club with a
total of 344.
A special award, a gold medal, will'
be given for the longest drive off the
first tee. A medal will also be given
to the individual turning in the best
score in the undergraduate division,
while the members of the winning in-
cependent team will receive medals.

Ostroot Tops Watson's
Frosh Discus Record
Big George Ostroot took time off
from his duties as tackle on the var-
sity football team yesterday to go
over to the discus ring .and smash
Bill Watson's frosh record.
The method way " Very simple.
George stepped into the circle eight
times, spun around three times on
each throw, and let fly with the
platter. Five times the discus went
sailing beyond Watson's 138 foot
mark, and the best of the throws, 144
feet 'eleven inches was established
!,as the mark.
