Blott Is Head Coach Jack Blott, another of Michigan's long list of star centers, is head coach of both baseball and football at Wes- leyan University, while "Butch" Slaughter, who starred at guard for the Wolverines in '24, is assistant coach of those two sports at Virginia. Maynard "Doc" Morrison, star cen- ter of the '31 Wolverines, is now foot- ball coach at Eastern High School in Lansing, and Henry Vick, another great pivot man, while in the insur- ance business here in Ann Arbor, al- so referees Big Ten football games during the fall. Ford Claims Share Henry Ford has also claimed his share of Michigan gridiron greats. Harry Newman, who saw several years of service with the New York Giants professional team after his gradua- tion, Otto Pommerening and Chuck Bernard are all in his employ. Whitey Wistert, after spending three years in professional baseball, has returned to the University to complete his work for a law degree. Harry Kipke, as everyone knows, has also returned to the University but in a different capacity, while Ralph Heikkinen, the most recent addition to the ranks, will be in school till June and next fall will take over a full-time job here as as- sistant line coach. Benbrook Lives In Dallas Benny Benbrook, the orignial "block of granite" at guard in 1909,1 is now residing in Dallas, Texas while Jimmy Craig, halfback in 1913, is recovering from an attack of appen- dicitis in, Tucson, Ariz. Johnny Maulbetsch is a druggist in Huntington, W.Va., and Stanfield Wells, end on the 1910 squad, is in the insurance business in Nashville. Ernest Allmendinger, guard of the 1917 squad, is with the State Highway Department and makes his headquar- ters in Ann Arbor. Hurlers Look Good In Freshmen Drills A squad of approximately 60 fresh- man baseball players has been work- ing out under Coach Bennie Ooster- baan and Lou Weintraub for the past week on the south. diamond at Ferry Field.
