The Hoosiers have leaped over vaunted Minnesota, passed Ohio State and now are notched in first place with a record of six won and only one lost. Since they dropped their season's opener to Ohio, the fighting Indiana outfitrhas been traveling at a terri- fic pace-a pace which is likely to bring them the Conference cham- pionship unless somebody does some- thing mighty quick. Weakened by the loss of Ev Doran from the first string forward wall, Coach Lowrey has been forced to move Capt. Les Hillberg into the vacant post. Ernie Andres who set a Conference scoring record of 30 points in one game last year is again blazing awayfrom his guard spot assisted by another veteran, Mary Huffman. That quintet has scored 291 points in seven Big Ten games which is tops in offensive attacks. On their heels are Ohio State's Buckeyes who momentarily held the lead after trouncing Minnesota \but then were nosed out by the Hoosiers a week ago. Illinois arid Purdue are tied for third spot and still have a fighting chance for the title while the Gophers trail in fourth position with only an outside chance. The oily comfort Michigan fans can get from the statistics is that the Wolverines' defensive record is one of the best in the league. They have had but 216 points scored against, them in seven games. Purdue and Minnesota are also hard to score on. The Boilermakers' opponents have made 191 points in six games and the Gophers' 231 points in eight games. Indiana's remaining schedule is no soft touch. They still must face the fast-improving Northwestern team, Minnesota and Purdue not to mention Michigan and Iowa. Although bringing a large squad, as far as numbers is concerned, the Woodstock ,Club will have one of the lightest teams that the Wolverines have faced all season. It is one of the oldest clubs in Canada and has won a number of championships. This year's team is undoubtedly the fastest and smartest ever to perform in the Oxford county metropolis. Leading the visting team will be "Sparky" Weiler and "Kitch" Hen- derson. Bill Buggs is the goalie, and has made quite a reputation for him- self as a shut-out artist in the On- tario Hockey Association series this year. Coach Harry King will also be able to call upon Jack Rennick who will be in one of the defense positions. Along with Hillberg, Coach Lowrey will continue to use George Cooke and Al Chadwick in the starting for- ward line. Larry Calvert and Bert i 1 1 ., t ', t YEHUDI MENUHIN ti Stodden will be taking over the two defense positions. STARTING LINEUP Woodstock Pos.
