Fluffy Naivete And Strict
Iailoring Seen In New
Hili Waisted Gowns
By MARIAN FERGUSON
For a completch feminine woman
who appreciates the sense of luxury
that the feel of lovely fabric give,
the ideal gift is a nightgown selected
to suit her personality.
The nightgowns in the fashion's
spotlight are high-waisted and molded
to the figure. The materials vary
from sheerest chiffon to richest satin,
while styles may range from severe
tailoring to fluffy naivete.
Satin Gown Shirred
A sleeveless blue satin gown is print-
ed in tiny delicate wreaths of pink
and blue flowers entwined with green
leaves. Shirring emphasizes its high
waistline, while a small pointed col-
lar gives a tailored touch. Puffed
sleeves and a square neck outlined in
foamy lace give an innocent charm to
a gown of shell-pink silk.
A sheer chiffon nightgown in a
delicate shade of pink has a slit skirt.
Its neckline of lace is gathered by a
drawstring of blue grosgrain ribbon.
Small pink and blue daisies are
sprinkled over a white silk gown with
tiny puffed sleeves and a round col-
lar. Lace is used in strips down the
front and around the collar, sleeves
and hem.
Styled Like Formal
A purple chiffon gown cut surpris-
ingly like a formal evening dress de-
parts from conventionally small print
with its large lavendar flower pattern.
A gown in lemon-yellow satin is
trimmed with sprigs of blue flowers.1
Shoit blue strands cross the shoulder
and outline the "flying seagull" neck-
line and low back.1
Red daisies form the print of aI
cream-colored satin gown trimmed
lavishly with lace. Two diamond-
shaped openings forming a clever
back are caught together with shir-I
ring. Rainbow-colored fans are scat-;
tered over an elegantly cut white silk
gown. A group of three white plumest
forms the print of a tailored pinkc
satin gown, while small red and bluec
bars decorate one in misty whitec
chiffon.
Slit Skirt Featured
A heart-shaped decolletage and slit
skirt outlined in stiff fluting are the
attractions of a gown of old-roset
satin. A severely tailored silk gown
is distinguished by dark shoulder-..
straps and a wide dark sash. Daintyl
hand-embroidered eyelets decorate a
gown of dusty blue satin. Another1

Short boxy fur coats are still good,
and one of cocoa-brown beaver could
be adapted to any use by a college
woman. For going home it might be
worn over a cinnamon wool with a
pencil-slim skirt. And it would also
be excellent to wear over formals for
Christmas festivities.
The temperature in trains is not
to be relied upon, so the home-bound
student should be prepared for both
extremes of hot and cold. A suit worn
under a swagger coat with a large
fluffy wolf collar might admirably
take care of all contingencies.
