Y., March 3. -VP)-A third appeal to the kidnap- ers of Peter Levine to "make contact" was made late today by the father, Murray Levine, signalizing a disturb-, ing lack of progress in the case on the eighth day of the 12-year-old 3oy's disappearance. From his home, where he has been keeping a long, anxious and fruitless watch near the telephone, Levine sent out this message: "I appeal to those holding my boy to mnake contact with me at once. I am ready. The way is open. The police and Federal authorities are not interfering and will not inter- fere. The kidnaping was brought offi- cially today to attention of the State Legislature at Albany, where As- emblyman Robert J. Crews, a NewI York City Republican, offered a bill1 to authorize payment of a $10,0001 reward for the apprehension and7 conviction of the abductors. The kidnaped boy has been missing since Feb. 23. All attempts to trace his abductors have failed. State Health Group Asks Disease Report LANSING, March 3.- UP) -- The State Advisory Council on Public Health has ordered that -contagious disease "carriers" must be reported to State and local health departments by physicians, under penalty of prose- cution, even though the "carriers" are not ill themselves. Dr. Don W. Gudakunst, State Health Commissioner, said that while contagious diseases have been report- ed in the past, there was no provision for reporting those who spread dis- ease when not ill. A fine or jail sen- tence are the penalties for failure to report. The Council also ruled that chil- dren suffering from communicable diseases may attend school if under "proper medical care." Heretofore, children were forbidden to attend. I Pershing's Chances Are Still Doubtful Although Brighter TUCSON, Ariz., March 3.-(P)- Two physicians kept close to the bed-1 side of General John J. Pershing to- night with Lieut-Col. S. U. Marietta,. army heart specialist, cancelling ear- lier plans to return to San Antonio. The physicians were more reticent than at any time since the early stages of the General's grave illness. A 13-word bulletin from Dr. Roland1 Davidson said:t "There has been no appreciable change in General Pershing's con- dition since last night." The bulletin of the previous night disclosed the kidreys, .which once ceased to, fuanction entirely, were giv- ing trouble, and described the Gen- eral's condition as "still serious," al- though there had been no actual retrogrescion. Search Continued For Lost Airliner FRESNO, Calif., March 3.-OP)- Aerial searchers joined ground par- ties late today in the first compre- hensive effort to find the missing skyliner which presumably crashed in the mountains northeast of here Tuesday night with nine persons aboard. All hands headed for the vicinity of Castle Peak, 80 miles northeast of here, on the strength of a new theory that the storm-trapped air liner was crowded far off its course as it un- successfully sought an emergency landing. The searchers previously had pro- jected their efforts to the region of Huntington and Shaver Lakes, 35 miles to the northeast, where aerial flares. and mysterious shots were no- ticed about the time the plane was in trouble. Fliers in the searchi concentrated on the Castle Peak objective after M. B. Pooling, San Francisco air- port executive, and Wiiliain Coyle, a Transcontinental and Western Air pilot, reviewed the available facts and suggested it as the most promising sector. 231 SOUTH STATE - Phone 9242 -- 8 Doors North of Kresge's DAILY DOUELE-EFFECTIVE TODAY and EVERY DAY 'Our everyday special' Courteous Service!
