'Twelve students and twelve profes- sional models modeled spring en- sembles which featured short full) skirts and hats with chin straps. Marcia Connell, '39, one of the stu- dent models, wore a navy blue wool dress with a candy striped blouse. With this a navy, off-the-face hat,. tied under the chin with a veil, was worn. Mary Randolph, '38, another mcdel wore a tailored evening gown with a navy skirt and chartreuse blouse and magenta belt and ker- chief. Betty Gatward, '38, head of the League social committee, was in charge of the tea. Charlotte Rueger, '37, announced the models as they paraded.. Seated at one table were Edith Lynch, '41, with her mother, Mrs. John Lynch, Betty Ronal, '38, Mary Minor, '40 and Harriet Shackleton, '38. Seated at another table were Pa- tricia Haff, '40; Janet Allington, '38, and Elizabeth Blodgett, '39. Women Stitch Merrily On Costumes The costume zoom of the League has become alive with the whirr of sewing machines, manipulated by the adept fingers of the many industrious committee members who are whip- ping in the stitches for the 1938 Junior Girls Play. Mary Lavan, chairman, and her co- horts have been spending their time 'midst the bolts of material that have been collected for a variety of cos- tumes that will liven the scenery of "The Mulberry Bush." Everything from Pericleans of the earliest vintage to the latest in formal gowns are be- ing collected, revamped or made anew. Chorus Costumes Described Costumes for the various choruses are in the making and at present As- pasia's Girls are about to be garbed in yards of green and summer brown giarquisette, which will constitutethe long full skirts. The bodices will be made of bronze satin. The royal family has to be pro- vided with army outfits, which have swept the committee into a quandary of what to do with the "rebels." Red shirts have been the outcome and in true keeping with the modern concep- tion of "what's fit for the army." No kingdom would be complete without its peasant element and so it is with the Kingdom of Boeotia. They will wear gay skirts of prints and plain materials with bfouses of white. Problems Are Met The Changing of the Guard have also presented a problem of grave con- cern,.according to Miss Lavan. Their costumes will be as one committeo member describes them "beyond de- scription." Short pleated skirts, bo- lero jackets and numerous other de- tails will give the general idea. W.A*A.
