"I want to pay that little bill of mine. I got some things here the other day-a malted, a tuna fish sandwich, and a couple of Sunday papers- The soda clerk said he would have to ask the boss about it, and retreatedf to the rear of the drug store while John glanced over the magazines on the rack. He usually stopped in here on his way down to the Intramural Building for team practice. The "boss" moved up from the prescription department, saw that it was Gee, and his features twisted into a beaming smile. "Howdy," said John. "I want to pay that bill. How much is it-?" With a deprecatory gesture, the druggist said heartily, "That's all right. Forget it. Forget it. Say, that was a pippin of a game you fellows turned in against Purdue. They'll be talking about that one for the next ten years. Magnificent!" "Thanks-" muttered John, over-. whelmed. "But I'd rather pay it. Be- sides, I just got something else. How much-" The "boss" opened the front door, and gently eased John onto the side- walk. "Forget it-" he smiled. And John smiled as he made his way up State Street.
