THE MICHIGAN DAILY TUESDAY, NOV. 3, 'The prospects of a close presi- dential race loomed again on the eve of the election as the results of anoth- er straw vote poll were announced. This one was taken in one of the fifth grade classes of the University ele- mentary school. The outcome of thel balloting was a tie, each of the majorI candidates receiving 12 votes. I The poll was conducted by the members of the class in conjunction' with the study of the electoral process. Before voting, the teacher, Mrs. Mary Livingston, took the class to the of- fice of the town clerk, where the processof registration was explained to them. On the day preceding the class election the pupils registered, using blanks which they had mimeo- graphed themselves. The signatures on the blanks were checked with a second signature made just before voting,- to prevent stuffing the bal- lot box.
