CAMP RANDALL STADIUM, Mad-
ison, Wis., Nov. 9. - (P) - Wiscon-
sin's victory-starved Badgers shook
off the memory of five straight de-
feats to hammer out a 8 to 0 decision
over Purdue here today in one of the
major upsets in the Western Con-
ference.
A homecoming crowd of 17,000 saw
Wisconsin play a brilliant game to
take its first win of the campaign.
Mortell constantly kept the boiler-
makers in a hole by quick kicking out
of bounds inside Purdue's ten yard
line. His kicks, placed with uncanny
accuracy, kept Purdue in the shad-
c'w of their goal posts and set the
stage for Wisconsin's first score.
Mortell had kicked out of bounds
on the Boilermaker ten yard line and
Wright, attempting to kick out from
the end zone, had his kick blocked.
Golmeske recovered for a safety, to
put Wisconsin ahead, 2-0, at the end
of the first half.
PITT BEATS ARMY
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 9. - (AP) -
The football! hosts of Pittsburgh,
blasting through the line, and shell-
ing the foe from aloft, scored an
amazing 29 to 6 triumph this after-
