Stanley Chorus Tryouts Will Be Held Tomorrow Tryouts for the Stanley Chorus will be held for any woman having second semester freshman rating or any upperclass woman from 4:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. tomorrow and Tuesday in the League. This will be the last opportunity to tryout. Danny Russo, who in the past few years has become one of the most popular band leaders in the Middle West, will play for the sixth annual formal. Russo for a number of years played in many hotels and night clubs in Chicago and is well known for helping many of the now famous orchestra leaders to fame in the musical world. A limited number of tickets, priced at two dollars, were placed on sale Friday noon and the attendance of the dance is to be limited to ap- proximately 300 couples. John C. McCarthy, '36, recording secretary, who is in charge of the ticket sale, stated that students may purchase tickets at either the Union desk or from Union executive councilmen. However, Union officials emphasized the fact that presentation of mem- bership cards would be necessary when getting the tickets. According to Wencil A. Neumann, '36, president of the Union, the for- mal was first inaugurated six years ago in order "to give all students an opportunity to go to a dance fea- turing an outstanding dance orches- tra with the price of it within the reach of all." 'Tobacco Road' Begins Second Week Tonight The second week of "Tobacco Road," Jack Kirklan's dramatiza- tion of Erskine Caldwell's novel of the South will open tonight at the Cass Theater in Detroit. James Kirkwood is playing the leading role of Jeeter Lester in this play of the southern share-cropper as found in the back districts of Georgia. The role of Jeeter is one of a character who recognizes no moral law except the satisfaction of his own appetites. He is shiftless and ruthless but underneath is a dis- tinct vein of comedy. The supporting cast includes Maud Lambert, Florence Gerald, Lillian Ar- dell, Cynthia Arden, Elaine Ellis, Robert Rose, Tilden Davis, Marshall Hall, Donn Bennett, Walter Ayres and Jean Bedini.
