Each, day heralded a marriage or engagement of a student or recent graduate. No sooner had Barbara Suther- land, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Dugald Sutherland, Narberth, Pa., re- ceived her diploma than she became the bride of James Crapo Cristy, Jr., son of Mrs. James Crapo Cristy, Ann Arbor, formerly Detroit, and the late Mr. Cristy. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Henry Lewis, rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, in the home of Mrs. Cristy, with only the immediate family and relatives pres- ent. White tapers burned in wrought iron candelabra .on each side of the firelace which was banked with ferns and white peonies: The former Miss Sutherland distinguished herself in class activities, being chairman of retary of the League, leader oftaoi the Junior Girls Play, leader of Lan- tern Night, and secretary of the League. She is a member of C'ol - legiate Sorosis, Wyvern, junior hon- orary fraternity, and Mortarboard, national senior honorary fratenity. Cristy, a record-breaking varsity swimmer was the first white man to finish in the 1932 Olympics, as well as winner of the National Canadian two miile race. He is affiliated with Sigma Phi and was president of Michigamua, national honorary fra- ternity. Snyder-French The Little Church Around the Cor- ner was chosen by Louise French, neice of Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Perkins, Bay City, and DeWitt Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Snyder, Mt. Hope, W. Va., for their wedding, Only'the immediate family, relatives and intimate friends attended. Both Mr. and Mrs. Snyder are prominent on campus. Mrs. Snyder is affiliated with Kappa Kappa Gam- ma sorority and has been active Mr. and Mrs. Tinkham, after a mo- tor trip north, will make their home in Champaign, Ill., where both will attend the College of Architecture in the University of Illinois. The former Miss Pollock is a mem- ber of Delta Delta Delta and Alpha Alpha Gamma sororities, and Mr. Tinkham is affiliated with Alpha Delta Phi and Scarab. Kleene-Blanchard Fritz Kleene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kleene, Asheville, N. C., was married to Betty Blanchard, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mor- ley, Bloomfield Hills, in the Christ Church, Cranbrook. The Rev. Dr. S. S. Marquis read the service be- fore an altar banked with baskets of white peonies, entwined with ropes of shasta daisies and white stock and cibotium fern. Thomas Kleene, '36, was best man for his brother, while Lloyd Goulet and Jack Bianchard were among the ushers. The former Miss Blanchard is a graduate of the Liggett School and of MissaBennett's School. The groom is affiliated with Alpha Delta Phi fra- ternity. Poat-Bailey The wedidng of Ruth Poat, '35, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Poat, and William Van Antwerp Bailey, son of Mrs. William Bailey, was the most spectacular Battle Creek has witnessed in some years. Miss Poat was assisted by Margaret New- nan, and Margaret Windham, maid of honor. Duane Beam, son of Mrs.. Arthur Beam. The ritual was read by the Right Rev. Walrren A. Chandler, bishop of Atlanta, at the bride's an- cestral home, Burge Plantation, Mansfield, Ga. The living room where the cere- mony was held was decorated with southern smilax and large clusters of white lilies. Lilies in an antique silver bowl flanked by white tapers in silver candelabra formed the cen- terpiece for the bride's table, which was laid with pointe de venise cloth over white satin.
