McCombs, '35, president, outlined preliminary plans for projects to be carried on by the student organization of the Un- ion during the forthcoming year. Student officers will start their work immediaely with two freshmen assemblies scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights of this week. In- coming students will meet for a stu- dent-faculty assembly Thursday and an activities assembly Friday. The last unit of the club, Hutchins Hall,'was comileted last year. Under New Management Col. Frederick S. Rogers, who took command of the post here last year after having been transferred from the Army War College, said yester- day that he expects this to be an even more successful year than last and that a definite gain in the number of students enrolling is anticipated. The regular Army personnel of the post, in addition to Colonel Rogers, consists of three captains, one first- lieutenant, and two sergeants. Freshman training in the unit in- cludes one drill period and two one- hour classes each week, and covers the rudiments of military drill, rifle markmanship, and other basic fields. Completion of four years in the University unit, plus one period at summer camp; leads to a commission in the Officers Reserve Corps of the United States Army, as a second lieutenant. to express the opinion today that they had rounded up one of the most active and best organized hold- up gangs in Detroit in recent years.
