Before the meeting an exhibit of the cavalcade of scientific jobs was given at the New York museum of science and industry. Machine tools were shown as creators of 87,000 jobs; electrical industry, 1,000,000; radio, 100,000; motion pictures, 389,- 000; telephone, 357,000; airplanes, 50,000; rayon, 41,000; steamships, 217,000 refrigeration, 72,000; automo-{ biles, 2,400,000. Peterson of the English department will speak on "The Short Story" on Tuesday, Prof. Robert Angell of the sociology department will discuss "Sociology" on Wednesday, and on Thursday, Prof. Verner W. Crane of the history department will continue the Michigan history series, speak- ing on "The French in Michigan." On the vocational guidance pro- gram Friday, Dean James B. Edmon- son of the school of Education will dicuss "Teaching as a Profession." Exh ibition, Banquet Stamp collectors from Detroit, Flint, Jackson, Lansing, and other nearby places are expected to attend an exhibition and banquet of the Ann Arbor Stamp Club today in the Union, it wv, announced yesterday by Wilmot C. Shankland, secretary of the club. Prof. Philip E. Bursley of the French department and Prof. H. B- Lewis, director of the College of Pharmacy, will be among local ex- hibitors in the display, which will open at 3 p. m. on the third floor of the Union. '95, and a gradu- ate of the School of Forestry in 1904, dean of the School of Forestry at Oregon Stage College at Corvalis, Ore., has been made acting president of the college by the Board of Higher Curricula, according to word received recently by Shirley W. Allen, profes- sor of forestry. Prof. Peavy was one of the earliest graduates of the Michigan School of Forestry, the school being started in the year 1903.
