.THE M1CILGAN DAILY Night At U League To Be Weekly Feature Campus Talent Entertains Grill Room Crowd With Dance, Song Numbers "Stunt Night" in the League Grill Room made an auspiciousbstart last night, with three numbers by campus favorites. Georgia Geisman, '34, headed the program with a song in her husky tones. She sang, "The Day You Came Along. Charles Rush, '36L, followed Miss Geisman with a clever tap dance.- Rush began his number with repartee with the orchestra aid continued during the dance with remarks ad- dressed to the audience. A sister singing act, famous on campus, was the next feature. The songsters included Jean Seeley, '36, Jean Ferrin, '36, and Ernestine Rich- ter, '36. Their number was "Mood In- Al Cowan, orchestra leader, made a short speech explaining the purpose of stunt night and asked for further volunteers. The answer to his request came in two numbers, a tap dance by Mary Busch, '35, and a piano solo during the orchestra's intermission by David Brown, '34, prominent in "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Stunt night will be a regular feature at the Grill every Wednesday night, Miss Ethel Mc- Cormick, social director of the League said.o Sophomores Will Hold Tryouts For Cabaret Tryouts for Sophomore Caba- ret will be held at 4 p. m. today for waltz and tap-dancing num- bers, while singing tryouts will be held at 4 p. m. Friday. All sophomore women are eligible to try out if their scholastic average is C, or may petition the office of the Dean of Women for permis- sion to participate if their scho- lastic average is below a C. Professors Place Third In State Bridge Tourney As a result of the State Bridge Tournament, played Saturday in De- troit, Prof. C. E. Love and Prof. E. W. Miller, placing third, won the right to play in the regional tour- nament in Chicago. Mrs. Louise Bright, and I. J. Deu- ter of Detroit were the winners of the tournament, which was conducted by the United States Bridge Association. Contestants were entered from De- troit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Mt. Clemens, Midland, and Chatham, Windsor, Ont. Of those who entered from the Ann Arbor City Tournament, Mr. John Mathes, and A. T. Cole, '36E, placed\ fifth, and Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Hunt, sixth. Faculty May Enroll In Dancing Class Invitations have been extended to faculty members to enroll in the graduate students' dancing class to be held Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 in the League, according to Miss Ethel McCormick. The first meeting of the combined group was held last night. Mr. Roland Fulton, who taught last year's class, is in- structor again this year. A fee of $3 is charged for the course of eight lessons. Fall things you will Blagdon Loan Fund Will Give $321.07 To Upperclassmen Announcement has been made of the facilities offered by the Charlotte Blagdon Loan Fund this year. The balance available for loans amounts to $321.07, League authorities stated yesterday. The money is used in loans to junior and senior women. The applicant is judged by the Dean of Women, the president and the vice-president of the League, and the chairman of the Judiciary Coun- cil upon her work on campus activi- ties, her personality, and scholarship. The W.A.A. Board and the League Board have been asked to recommend anyone they know who is interested in a part of this loan. When the applicant has been cho- sen announcemhent of her appoint- ment and a description of the woman concerned will be sent, as is the custom, to Mr. ana Mrs. Blodgett. Outdoor Club Will Hold Steak Roast The University Outdoor Club is sponsoring a steak-roast Saturday at Highland Lake. The group attend- ing will meet at the south entrance of the League at 2 p. m. and will be carried by truck to the country where a hike will start. Those interested must give their names to Miss Ethel McCormick, social director of the League.
