GrillDancin1 With the start of classes many of the League activities that proved suc- cessful last year will start again, said Miss Ethel McCormick, social direc- tor of the League. The Duplicate Bridge tournament that was con- ducted both last semester and dur- ing the summer period will start again tonight. Four cups will be pre- sented to winners each evening, and the price, according to Miss McCor- mick, is 25 cents entrance fee. Bridge lessons that were given last semester will also be given, and also the dancing lessons, under the direc- tion of Roland Fulton. A date has not yet been set for the start of these lessons. The Student Art Exchange will give an opening tea Sunday at which there will be a showing of the work done this summer by the mem- bers of the Student Art Camp at Harbor Springs. Dancing in the Grill room of the League will also begin tonight. Al Cowan and his band will play there on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thurs- day evenings. Other League activities which will continue this year are the traditional Junior Girls Play, the Sophomore Cabaret, the Panhellenic Ball, and the Panhellenic Supper. These and the other activities conducted by the women during the year will be ex- plained at the mass meeting for new students at 4 p. m. today in the Lydia Mendelssohn theater, according to Miss McCormick. -Associated Press Photo Gloria Swanson, trim and chic as always, greets the world with a smile. Fraternities Entertain Alumni, II Iteturing r Fraternities opened their houses last week-end to entertain rushees and alumni. Delta Tau Delta entertained the following alumni over the week-end: Robert St. Clair, Luke Heppburn, Richard Haffee and Charles Booth, all of Detroit;, Robert Beaseley, of Denver; and Rehn Nelson, of Chi- cago. Alumni returning to the Phi Kappa house for rushing are as fol lows: Edward George, '30, Chicago; Patrick Murphy, '31, Adrian; Edward Brady, '28 and Joseph Brady, '26, Holland; John Wagner, '33; Claude Trottier, '30; Jerry Harrington, '29;^ George Cheadle, '29; and William Murphy, '30, all of Detroit; Gerald E. Buckley, '32; George J. Burke, and Edward Devine, all of Ann Arbor. Phi Kappa entertained its rushees at a smoker Sunday afternoon in the chapter house. Pi Lambda Phi held open house for rushing over Saturday and Sun- Rushng Season day. The following, alumni were guests of the chapter: Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Bur- ton J. Friedman, of Detroit; Mrs. G. J. Willans, Boston; Mr. D. L. Mar- cus, Pittsburgh; and Mr. S. Gilbert, South Bend. The Sigma Nus opened formal rushing with a dinner and reception Saturday, andya dinner and buffet supper Sunday. These two affairs were planned by Herbert Leggett, '35, rushing chairman, and Kenneth Hildreth, '34, social chairman. Tonight Ann Arbor rushees will be entertained at a dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dunn, and Dr. and Mrs. Lowell Carr, representing the alumni, will receive.
