An innovation for readers of The
Daily for the coming year will be
the Rotogravure Section, which will
be inserted in the regular Sunday
paper each week and will contain
news and pictures from Michigan
and many other colleges throughout
the country.
Football pictures from the leading
colleges and universities in the
United States, beauty contest queens,
freaks, and many other curious col-
legiate scenes will be shown, as well
as leaders in other fields of sport and
campus activities.
"We believe that this section will
enable us to give the students better
enjoyment from The Daily," W.
Grafton Sharpe, '34, business man-
ager, said in announcing the new
section, "and we sincerely hope that
the interest that it attracts from
the student body will make it pos-
sible for us to run a similar section
during years to come."

during the past years of hard times.
In a study supervised by Prof.
Robert C. Angell of the sociology de-
partment students are shown to be
taking an increased and more spon-
taneous interest in their studies and
discussions of politics and economics,
while the collapse in the material
values of life during recent years

has set them to serious thought on
personal philosophies of life. Friend-
ships between members of the same
sex and of the opposite sex are be-
ing made on a basis of intelligence,
good character, ability to talk in-
terestingly and sincerity, rather than
on wealth, clothes, a clever "line"
of talk, family prominence, or frat-
ernity or sorority membership, states
Professor Angell.
Professors and ministers of city
churches agree that University stu-
dents are much more inclined to
ponder over the problems of living
and take a social as opposed to in-
