THE MItCHIGAN DAILY Union Inaugurates All-Campus Bowling An attempt is being made by the Michigan Union to organize a bowl- ing league for the fall and winter. If present plans materialize, there will be two leagues of eight teams each, competing every Tuesday and Wednesday night for the prizes which are offered. At the end of each week, the winning team will be awarded the "pool" and the highest individual scorer will receive same award. At the present time, the Union, University Business Office, Building and Grounds, Kiwanis, Exchange, Pendorfs, and Wigwams have all en-. tered teams. Union sponsors are also trying to enter teams from the Lions, University Club, Chemistry stores, and an outfit composed 'of coaches and heads of the Intramural department. Faculty and students interested are invited to form teams and enter the league. Officers Find 'Kidnaped' Man Was With Friends The man-hunt for eight heavily armed men reported to have kidnapedj Frank Pennisi, of Brooklyn, N. Y., from a farm near Milan, was aban- doned shortly after 2 a. m. yesterday when officers learned that Pennisi left willingly. The eight men were Ital- ian friends who after speaking to Pennisi drove away with him. SHARP PROMOTED Alton B. Sharp, a graduate of the University, was recently appointed to the position of president of the East- ern Steamship Lines, Inc., .,by the board of directors of the company. He will assume his new duties at once. Mr. Sharp has been identified with the Eastern Lines since 1928, in con- nection with the business activities, and, then, in the capacity of comp- troller. Before affiliating with the steamship company, he held a post on the United States Shipping Board Merchant Fleet Corporation. i . . . . ay I at - .
