Depression To Be Subject of S.C.A. Forum On Moniday Depression remedies may be given an airing at the all-campus open forum being sponsored by the Stu- dent Christian Association in Lane Hall Monday afternoon at 4:15. The subject of the forum, "'An Experi- ment in Industrial Democracy," is the presentation of a proposed solu- tion for current economic difficulties, it was said yesterday. The president of the Columbia Conserve Company, William P. Hap- good, will lead the conference. The Columbia Conserve Company, locat- ed at Indianapolis, Indiana, is a manufacturing concern run by a council elected by both the workers and owners. Mr. Hapgood, formerly one of the owners, will explain the method used in turning over control of the busi- ness to the workers, and the policies followed at the present time. In pre- vious talks he has opened his plans to discussion, before many leading economists and business men. Frank Wilson, Heart Specialist, Is Expert At BirdPhotography By RALPH G. That Englishman was Dr. Thomas Lewis, later knighted, and the young American was Dr. Frank N. Wilson, who had graduated from the Univer- sity of Michigan medical school in 1913, and returned here after the war to become professor of medicine. Some of Dr. Wilson's latest pic- tures are now on view in the Uni- versity Museums. The clear, sharp close-ups that the doctor obtains these days were not attained without years of trial and disappointment, however. Dr. Wilson has not confined him- igan, and mostly in the vicinity of Ann Arbor. His wife accompanies him and is his chief aide on these excursions. A number of his photos, accom- panied by stories of their origin, have been featured in Bird Lore magazine, while others have appeared in the National Geographic. He was the il- lustrator of the bird volume of the Smithsonian Scientific Series. "The fundamentals," Dr. Wilson will tell you, "are not hard. The first thing is to find the nest. Then I erect a blind, a small tent carefully camouflaged with brush, nearby, and I am ready. I use a long focus lens, and take small birds from a distance of seven to eight feet, large birds from 25 to 30 feet away. "It's trying to suit the habits of the birds that causes all the trouble," he said. -* JUST R EADY -- T he 50th E dition of the MICHIGAN CALENDAR LIMITED EDITION - PRICE 75c Somewhat Different and More Attractive than Ever - Put Up in Art Envelope Ready to Mail WAHR S 316 State Street UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE i' F+ -a - - - - - - - - S. - -- S. ~aa~Sn -- a - a - - - - A - - ~aa S. m F':.'"' -,.
