"All of the 250 tickets that were placed on sale at 8 a. m. Tuesday were sold by 2 p. m. today," Rich- ard N. Cogger, '33E, general chair- man, announced last night. The amazing sell-out indicates that stu- dents want a low priced dance," Cog- ger said. The tickets had been re- duced to $1.50. "The dance will be restricted to en- gineers for whom the dance is pri- marily intended," he stated. The ticket sale was to be limited to stu- dents of the Colleges of Engineering and Architecture until March 29, after which date they were to go on general campus sale. In the past, tickets have sold in the neighborhood of $4 and $5 and cor-t respondingly high priced orchestras have been engaged. Last year the Casa Loma orchestra played for the dance. With the reduction in price of tic'kets a comparatively unknown,' but good, orchestra was selected. Bobbie Woodruff and his band of 11 pieces are to play for the Slide Rule Dance a week from today. At present they are playing in East Lansing after various engagements in the surrounding territory and in Chicago. Last October it had swung pretty far in the direction of frilly feminine things that depended on lines, true enough, but not those made by an ingenuous tailor. Then without any warning it went to the direct oppo- site position with the event of the mannish fashions. Now we can lie. back-and sigh. withrelief that it has at length hit a happy medium. An interesting example of this is the combining of some of the better elements of tailored lines in an ex- clusively feminine institution, the tea costume. This consisted of a long flowing gown in black crepe with, crisply fitted shoulders and a pleated' fron~t of chiffon reminiscent of the tuxedo. Although the little jackets worn with formals are becoming increas- ingly more and more tailored, by no stretch of the imagination could mousseline de soie be. called mascu- line. Some of these go so far as to disguise the fact that their origin was inspired by a masculine mess, jacket, with crisp ruching around the neckline and cuffs.
