Twenty-three women have been chosen for the cast of "No Man's Land," 28th annual Junior Girls' Play, according to an annod ncement xnade yesterday by Miss Harriet Brazier, director. Mary ; Phillips will take the part of the woman lead and Virginia Kocl will play tlie male lead. Vinselle Bartlett and Betty Van Horn have been selected for the comedy leads and Eleanor Riker, Alice Boter, Parrish Riker, Marian Heald, Elinor Loc-:e, and VIary Beth Hickman have other major cast Directs Activities parts. Other speaking parts have been assigned to Ruth Stesel, Jeanne Reed, Virginia Murphy, Jeannette Albrecht, Glendora Gosling, Harriet :k Holden, Mary Ann McDowell, Har- riet Long, Edith Carlin, Erie Weber," Laura Miller, Helen De Witt, and{ Ethelyn Miller.: 98 to Take Parts. There will be a total of wom- en in the choruses totaling 98 for the entire performance. Members of the cast and choruses have been rehearsing for the last few weeks under the instruction of the 'dance chairman and Miss Brazier. Following is a list of the women in choruses: Helga E. Florence Reed, Dorothy Reinart, Pauline Eilber, Eleanor Welsh, Es- Michigan, Will Hold Conference D ea te In the first conference debate of the season Michigan's varsity nega- tive team of women will meet the University of Indiana at Blooming- ton tonight. The question being discussed in this debate is: Resolved that India be granted' immediate independence from Great Britain. This proposi- tion is the subject ford women's de- bate in all of the mid-western uni- versities. Women who will debate for Mich- igan are: Dorothy - Daniels, '32, Gladys Baker, '33, and Jean Haga- man, '33. Miss Daniels who is to be third speaker in the debate .to- night was a member of the team which defeated Ohio university last year in a conference contest. Miss Hagaman who will be sec- ond speaker in tonight's contest was also a member of last year's winning team. Miss Baker has had previous:experience in debte 'at Ste- phens College for Women, Mo- In the debate with Indiana last year which was held in Ann Arbor Indiana won a detision over Michi- gan. In the contest this year'Prof. Claude Siffert, head of the speech department at Butler university, will act as judge. V SOCI ETY< Luncheon at Several interesting social affairs have been planned to honor Count- ess Alexandra Tolstoy, daughter of the famous novelist, who will lec- ture at 8 o'clock tonight in Hill au- ditorium. Miss Tolstoy will arrive this aft- ernoon. While here she will be the tiouse guest of Dr. and Mrs. Onder- tionk. Immediately following her lecture this evening she will be honored at a rebeption at'the Alpha Chi Omega house when bout one hundred friends of that sorority and of Dr. Onderdonk will be pre- sented to ber. Tomorrow noon there will be a luncheon given for her in the League by the Tolstoy League which anybody desiring to meet her may attend. Tickets for it are on sale at the Main Desk in the League. It is due to the efforts of Dr. Francis Onderdonk, of the College of Architecture, that the Women's League, which is sponsoring the lec- ture is able to bring the Countess here. League Chi Omega Chi Omega entertained ten guests at a rushing dinner last night. To- night the sorority will entertain ten more rushees at dinner. j Delta Delta Delta.; Delta Delta Delta entertained Miss Avis Pitts from Cleveland, 0., as a house guest last week end. Monday night a midnight spread was given in her honor. Thursday night the sorority will entertain guests at a rushing dinner. Wed- nesday night Mrs?
