Ann Arbor to Vote
,on Sewage Disposal
A bond issue of $450,000 to build
a sewage disposal plant and con-

voted on by the citizens of Ann Ar-
bor at the municipal elections, April
4. The total cost of the project
will be $620,000 but thehUniversity
has agreed to pay $,170,000 of this,
leaving $450,000 to be raised by the
residents of Ann Arbor.
At the present time the sewage is
dumped into the Huron river below
the city. Du~ to the increase of
population within recent years the
amount of sewage has reached a
point where it may contaminate
the stream.
The State Health department has
communicated with city officials
and stated that the city must im-
prove its sanitation in regard to
sewage disposal. Although the
states will probably take no action
within the next two years, Ann Ar-
bor must provide proper sewage
disposal facilities, Prof. F. N. Mene-
