Guy Maier, famous pianist and member of the School of Music fac- ulty for the past six years, has tendered his resignation to Presi- dent Charles A. Sink, it was an- nounced yesterday. Concert work, which necessitates his dropping academia activities, was given as the cause. Sink will submit the resignation to the Regents at their next meet- ing with the recommendation that the body accept it. "I deeply re- gret Maier's resignation," Sink stat- ed last night, "for I know that we have all enjoyed his membership on the faculty. His outside work makes it impossible for him to con- tinue as a professor in the School." Maier has been on a leave of ab- sence for the last two years, parti- cipating in concerts all over Amer- ica. He recently broke up with Lee Pattison, his partner in the famous Maier-Pattison duet, because of the dearth of ndw material to play. He appeared last in Ann Arbor at the 1930 May Festival.
