WORK Substitution of Military Course Allowed for Freshmen. All Freshmen are eligible to enlist in the University of Michigan Re- serve Officers Training Corps. Freshmen who take R.O.T.C. are excused from the regular compul- sory gym work. A deposit is re- quired for uniforms, but this is re- funded at the completion of the basic work after two years. Wednesday, and Friday a7ternoons, at the ;south end of Ferry Field inside the wall. In case of rain, the shoot will be held at the R.O.T.C. gallery. Fresh- men are eligible to compete for a place on the University of Michi- gan rifle team. This team won first place for Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. The team will be organized early this year. Freshmen who wish to play in the band will probably be required to enlist in the R.O.T.C. If it is not necessary .for them to be in the R.O.T.C., Director Nicholas Falcone stated preference will be given to R.O.T.C. men. The band will be in playing form for the first football game.
