COMING EVENTS
Dr. Eyler Newton Simpson, of the Institute of Current World Affairs
and the Guggenheim Foundation in Mexico, will lecture on the subject
"Americanism Crosses the Rio Grande-An interpretation of 'informal'
relations between the United States and Mexico," Thursday, Dec. 10, at1
4:15 p. m., in Room 1035 Angell Hall. Open to the public.
Society of Industrial Engineers: \eeting Wednesday at 7:30. p. m.,
in Room 304 of the Union. Mr. John Airey, Vice-President and General
Manager of the King-Seeley Company, will discuss "Management Prob-
lems During the Current Depression for the Jobbing Type of Industry."
This should provA unusually interesting, as the King-Seeley Company
has been faced with problems due to shifting markets, as well as the
general decline of business.
There will also be a short business meeting to take care of a few

The speaker, Professor A. E. White, Director of the Department of Engi-
neering Research, will talk on some phase of Industrial Research. All1
chemical engineering students are invited to attend.
All Women Interested in Education are invited to attend a meeting'
in the Library of the Elementary School at 7:30 p. m., Thursday, Dec. 10..
Miss Ethel Hedrick will talk and there will be a discussion afterwards of
magazines that have a professional interest for the women who are

Garden Section of the Woman's Faculty Club will meet Wednesday,
Dec. 9, at 3 p. m., at the Palmer Field House. Dr. Paul Krone, a specialist
on Floral Culture from Michigan State College, will be the speaker. The

officer is being placed in every
hamlet and village for the sole pur-

point for the dissemination of na-
tionalistic and militaristic propo-
ganda. The r.O. T. C. alone is suf-
ficient confirmation for the belief
that Uncle Sam is militaristic."
Asked in an open 'forum following
his lecture what could be done
about the "despicable" R. O. T. C.
unit here, Villard answered that
the most that could be done would
be in the nature of protests, argu-
ments and insistence that the unit
is unnecsary. He said that he
wished he knew of strong men that
could be employed against the unit
but urged students to do all in
tnere power to abolish it.
"No anounts of preparation," Vil-
lard continued, "can guarantee any
nation against war or insure suc-
cess in war. War does not come
about because a nation has a weak
army but because the statesnien
of that country desire it. Every
drop of blood shed, every life lost
in the Spanish-American war lies
on the head of William McKinley
and nobody else.
