last year, holding down one of the
regular guard positions. Here again,
Williamson's stellar defense work
was a constant prop to the team.
It should also be noted that his
consistent floor-work was a feature
of the offense. He will probably fill
one of the starting positions on this
year's squad, with two brilliant sea-,
sons predicted for him.

Coach Johnstone Aided by Bob
Piew, Promising Second
Semester Freshman.
Michigan's Freshman fencing
team showed a great deal of prom-
ise at the squad's fourth workouit,
held in Waterman Gymnasium,
yesterday afternoon. Only one of
the candidates has had any pre-
vious experience. He is Robert
Plew, a second-semester freshman.
Plew took extensive training in
fencing last term and has long
been a student of it. Being thu
advanced he has been employed by
Coach Johnson as an assistant.
Fifteen men have now reported,
four more than were present at
the initial workout. Practices are
now being held every Wednes-
day afternoon. Plans are being
made for practice tilts with the
varsity later in the year. The men
who are now working out with the
yeaxlings are: Levin, Olsaver, Mor-
row,' Einstein, Wolfe, Crossman,
Buhl, Borah, Plew, Stevens, Rigg,
Hall, English, and Merwin.
MANDERS LEADS SCORERS

stellar sophomore was second. The
