By John Thomas Another Michigan athlete is bud- ding on the horizon as a truly great. Coming to Michigan last year as one of the best-known ath- letes in his section of this state, Ted Petoskey has shown in the cur- rent football season enough to ful- fill all predictions made about him. He seems certain to follow the I lead of Kipke, Oosterbaan, Tru- skowski, Hudson, Daniels, and oth- er Michigan greats in earning his quota of nine letters. His natural performances at left end on the football team practically clinches his status as Varsity end. One fe.ature of his football ac- tivities that has escaped comment is that on the majority, of off- tackle and around-end runs used in the last few games, Petoskey has been pulled out of the line and used in the backfield as a blocker. He seldoms teams with anybody in this, usually doing the work alone. Basketball or Hockey. Although g a i n i n g state-wide prominence as a basketball player in high school, Ted may go out for hockey. At 14 he skated 20 miles to Saginaw, won skating cham- pionship of the County and all the 'other awards at the meet, and then skated the 20 miles back home to St. Charles. Although he has not made definite plans as yet, he may go out for hockey instead of bask- etball. However he will not make up his mind until aftei Saturday's game. He has had a more or less secret desire to play hockey and consid- ering the eight Varsity basketball men to return, he may choose the ice game. There is a defense posi- tion open for a husky puckster who can stand punishment and handle himself well on the ice. This might possibly be etoskey. He is Pitcher, Catcher. t In high school he was a baseball pitcher. However as a freshman - last spring, Coach Oosterbaan re- vamped him into a catcher so he may report for both positfons when the diamond season opens. Ted's uncle is "Sailor" Petoskey, a famous middleweight of 15 years ago. His father was also a famous athlete in his day and Fred will - have to be truly great to equal the older Petoskey's record. He has a younger brother who will enter Michigan next year. ::{: Freshmen Basketball The first ten individual winners were as follows: 1st, Lemen, Pi Men Report to Fisher Kappa Alpha, 2nd, K.
