Sullivan is now on display in the ground floor corridor of the architectural building. Some of these drawings are, the original designs. for terra gotta ornamienit on the famous Wainwright building, St. Louis, de- signed by the firm of Adler and Sullivan forty years ago and re- garded by many authorities as one of Sullivan}, best contributions toward expresing the then emer- gent steel frame construction. Sullivan was a thinker and cre- ative, worker in the architectural field in planning and general de- sign and he also created a type of ornament which is termed remark- able for its brilliancy and appropri- ato in character for the materials in which it was carried out. a He is the only American archi- dtect ever to receive the medal of. f.Ithe French Societe des Arts Deco- e, ratifs.
