THURSDAY,,JANUARY 8, 1931 THE MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE SEVEN ka TH.IHGA AL PAGE ............EVE.N ..... K I t7r l -t 4^ y 4 I LIM HAVESTIF l L Captain Auer Will be Kept Off Mat in West Virginia Meet Saturday. Coach Keen gave his charges cne of the hardest workouts of the sea son last night as he put themn to the test of time trials on the mat. Each man on the squad had a chance to demonstrate his ability. Along with this strenuous work in the -ring the wrestlers WCre kept at the usual drilis on es anos riding, and pinning. Although it has appeared that Captain Auer would be able to see action against West Virgia in the heavyweight division this aturday. it is now quite definite at h wrenched arm he suffered will k^", him out of the competition. F u- thermore, the leg injury that Otto sustained is going to be his ticket' for a ringside seat instead of a matchthisweek end. The loss of these two men will be felt by the Wolverines. The grapplers are not at top form yet, several of them apparently not in the best of condition, but Keen has announced that he will use only those men who are in good condition at the time of the meet. Working toward this improved con- dition, Keen has been most exact- ing in the daily practice sessions. Looking back at the defeat that the visiting grapplers handed the Wolverines in 1929, the men are1 anxious to take all possible revenge on the West Virginia squad this t week. The taste of that lone upset for that otherwise successful year still lingers and an effort will bef made to turn the tables this year. However, the competition is prob-c a'bly the toughest that the Maize and Blue wrestlers will meet this season. The outstanding mren continue to be Sikwart and Youngman in the< 115-pound class, while Aldinger, Cortez, and Bennett top the 125- pounders. Woodard is yet the best of the 135 men and Benz and Wil- son rank first in the 155 division-. The 165 class is headed by Parker and Heim, and Jordan, Refi, and Dougivtio look the best in the 175 event. The heavyweight battle will probably fall to Stoddard._ PUCKMEN READY FOR MARQUETTE (Continued P-or Page 6) edly be strong, Coach YLowrey's club should give it me real bathes. Both of these men suffered min- or injuries h t n. essitated Itheir removal Oani2 a pat of the geme, but they both were able to get back into the play later. It is possible that Crosaman's leg injury, how- ever, may keep him idle for a few days, and if that is the case, Cap- tain Art Schlanderer will take his place. Tommy Courtis will again take care of the other wing posi- tion.
