J., Dec. 18.-Thomas A. Edison expregsed the, opinion Wednesday that prohibition has helped the industrial and econo- mic life of America and that its enforcement is improving daily. His belief was set forth in an swer to a questionnaire submitted to him by Rev. James K. Shields, superintendent of the New Jersey Anti-Saloon league. The six questions and answers: Q. Do you approve o' the eight- eenth amendment to the constitu- tion of the United States? If so, why? A. Yes. 'It is a necessary aid to permit practical enforcement of prohibition all over the country. Q. Has it helped the industrial and economic life of America at, home and strengthened the' in- dustrial standing of our nation a- broad? A. Yes, and to a greater extent than realized. Q. In your judgment are chil- dren better fed and clothed and educated since the coming of na- tional prohibition than they were before? A. In my judgment I would say decidedly yes. Let me cite my ex- perience as a manufacturer, simi- lar to that of other manufacturers. On pay days before prohibition hundreds of pale-faced women, shabbily dressed, some with faded shawls around their heads, appear- ed at our factory at West Orange. Architectural Exhibit to be Continued Later Plans for the exhibit of architec-1 tural designs and sketches now be- ing shown in the corridors of the architectural building call for its continuation after the holidays, Prof. H. A. Fowler, of the art de- partment, announced yesterday. The exhibit includes works of stu- dents from all the leading archi- tectural schools of the country and has been showing all this week. Works of Michigan students are al- so being shown in the exhibit, some of " them those which are in the contest for the May party decora- tion prize. Plans for industrial and scientific buildings are in the majority in the exhibit presenting a variety of color and design. Homes and laboratories are particularly interesting while the modernistic plans for airports, hangars and administration build- ings have aroused considerable comment. i J " " s 7 V 0 " .; - - - --- _.m_ ._.. __. ._.._ .___ _.__s _. _.__-__ . .i it Where Servce and Quality Reigns Among the Best and at Reasonable Prices 'a If - E I ..The..
