Jane Inch, assistant chairman of the Play, who is in charge of ap- pointments and tryouts says that though yesterday was the first day to make appointments, there was quite a bit of enthusiasm shown by the junior women. Miss Inch also said that women should remember the eligibility requirements before signing up for a tryout, since in- eligible women who do this will only make extra work for the com- mittee.- Requirements for eligibility are a C average for last semester's work, with no E's, and either full junior standing of 60 hours, second semes- ter sophomore standing, or second semester junior standing with no record of participation in any other Junior Girls' Play. PLAY FOR ALL' IS AIM In reorganizing the Intramural sports this year, three steps in the Athletic Conference of American College Women platform are being carried out, by the Physical Edu- cation department for women. The first step, to emphasize mass participation, is being realized through the intramurai programs, through Sports' Days, a form of intercollegiate relationship which places emphasis upon play for all, and through promotion of a varied program which meets the interests of all women. The second step, article 7 in the A. C. A. C. W. platform, reads "to co-operate with our respective Physical Education departments in the realization of these ideals and standards," and the third step, article 9, is "to promote those ac- tivities that may be adapted to the needs of after-college life." JACKETS The Women's Athletic Association1 recommends the furtherance of intramural games as a means of encouraging women to come out for sports. Competition among theI various groups is valuable for the social contacts brought about, and enthusiasm for healthful activities can be maintained by offering a great variety of activities which appeal to the interests of the stud-' ents. This is the purpose of the present emphasis being put upon intramural sports by the physical education department, as a pre- requisite for playing on interclass teams. Under the present system, inter- class games will be played after the close of. the intramural season.
