BOTH TACKLES INJURE: Michigan's Junior Varsity foo ball squad, 22 strong, will leave An Arbor at 9:30 o'clock today for i battle with Western State Norm college this afternoon at Kalama zoo, in what promises to be th hardest game on the Jayvee sched ule for this year. The Wolverine reserves will b without the services of two of it players, one a regular, when Berko witz and Bennett will be left be hind on this trip. Berkowitz, on of the stars of the Jayvee back field, with only two games remain ing on the schedule, has decide to drop football to devote all o his time to the Law school. Backfield Weakened The loss of the stocky fullbac means that Coach Ray Courtrigh will have to depend on a made ove backfield against the Normal team2 while the poor condition of two o his linemen also necessitates sub stitutions at both of the tackl positions. Although neither of th regulars, Frisk or Jordan, are s badly injured that they can no play if needed, Courtright wil start the reserves and leave them in if they play well enough to war rant it. The remainder of the Junio Varsity team will remain much th same as usual. Bovard and Justice will be at the two flank positions with Markley and VanAkren bein carried as replacements. With both Jordan and Frisk being kept on the bench until absolutely needed Horwitz and Unger will cover the two tackle positions. McClellan wil also be taken along as extra strength at this post. Center of Line Remains Same. Parker and Benz, regular guards will remain flanking the center with Honer being takenalong a replacementsmaterial. The regular center, Winston, will be in with Kuijala in reserve. Eight backs will be carried on the trip, and from that group Coach Courtright is hoping to find one that can capably fill Berkowitz' shoes. Lindsay will be started at the quarterback position, with Coombe assured of one halfback post. At the other half either Pod- lewski or Brown will see service, and the one that is not given this job will draw the fullback assign- ment. Besides these men Kutsche, Hurwitz, Hays, and Bremen will be taken along. Normal Has Lost Only One. Western State Normal has only dropped one game all season, and should prove plenty tough for the Wolverine Cubs this afternoon. Only Michigan State Normal of Ypsilanti, the same team that held the Michigan Varsity to a lone score early in the season, has taken the measure of the Teachers so far this season. Coach Courtright, although he still has one Conference game still to play, is likely to throw every- thing he has into today's battle in an effort to upset the Western State team. Michigan's chances of finishing well up in Conference competition have already gone glimmering with a defeat by Illi- nois and a tie with Ohio State, and the Wolverine mentor'may rather send everything he has against Western State than save anything for Wisconsin next week. Outside of the injuries to Frisk and Jordan, neither of which is serious, the Wolverine Cubs are in excellent physical condition for to- day's battle. Frisk has been on the sick list virtually all season, but Jordan's leg injury occurred only two weeks ago in a practice session.
