REGULARS YET UNTRIED AV Ar", l A l Swinging into their season the Wolverine swimmers will open a- gainst the Alumni team in a meet Friday, Nov. 21. This meet com- ing before the Chicago game will be the first appearence of the Michigan water stars since the loss of most of the team last June. Swimmers of the highest nation- al repute will represent the Alumni when they gather to oppose the Varsity. Men that made the All- American team from the Michigan tank will be bolstered by Big Ten champions a n d present World record holders. Waiaitis to Daive. Walaitis, sprint man and diver, Conference champion and at pres- ent co-holder of the 160 yd. world relay record will swim with Hos- mer, also sprint man and holder of the relay record. Spindle, Confer- ence back stroke king, and Ault, for three years holder of the Con- ference quarter mile title, will also swim for the alumni. Other Big Ten title holders that will meet the Wolves are Hubbell, back stroke, Goldsmith breast, Wagner breast, and Watson, water polo. Many of the mainstays of the former Michigan teams includ- ing Grimshaw, Mertz, Reif, Mc- Donald, Hughes, Brown, and Fish- man are slated to comprise the greatest aggregation of aquatic stars ever gathered here. Two Veterans on Team, Untried and with only two veter- ans returning, the Varsity will have to prove its worth against some of the best swimmers and divers in the country. Capt. Valentine and Smith are the remnants of last year's squad and the rest are sophomores that have as yet not been pitted against Conference competition. These second year men however comprised one of the best fresh- men teams last year that has ever entered the University, and this meet will be an opportunity for them to show against talent of bet- ter than average Big Ten tank teams. i tI.o Open season Y, iwGbw CK HANLEY DIVULGES SECRET V y .YEARLINGS LEAARYN -.
