TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1930 NO. 20 NOTICES University Senate: There will be a meeting of the University Senate on Monday, November 10, at 4:15 p.m., in Room C, Law Building. Louis A. Hopkins, Secretary. College of Literature, Science, and the Arts; School of Music: All students, now in residence, who received marks of Incomplete or X at the close of their last term of attendance, (i.e., semester or summer ses- sion), must complete work in such courses by the end of the first month of the present semester, October 29th. Where illness or other unavoid- able circumstances make this impossible, a limited extension ofntime may be granted by the Administrative Board, provided a written re- quest, with the approval and signature of the instructor concerned, is presented at the Registrar's Office, Room 4, University Hall. In cases where no make-up grade is received and no request for additional time has been filed, these marks shall be considered as having lapsed into E grades. Upperclass women, Hygiene Lectures: Upperclass women who are attending Hygiene Lectures and who are not enrolled in any physical education class are required to keep notebooks. These notebooks are to be turned in immediately after each lecture and may be reclaimed on the following Monday and Tuesday. Be sure that your name, college and ygr are on the notebook as the record of attendance is taken from the notebooks turned in. Women students in Dental Hygiene are not required to take the Hygiene Lectures given in Barbour Gymnasium. Dr. Bell. Senior Mechanical Engineers: If you expect to graduate in February or June, 1931, please see that your name is included on the list posted on the bulletin board in the south corridor of West Engineering. Women's Archery Tournament: Sororities and league houses must turn in entrants' names to Miss Zettler in Barbour gymnasium today. Tournament will be next week. EVENTS TODAY Economics 51 and 52 Make-ups: Make-up examinations for those who missed the final examinations in these courses in June, 1930, will be given at 3 p.m. in Room 202 Economics. Physics Colloquium: Professor O. S. Duffendack will discuss "The Exchange of Energy Between Molecules During Collision in Gases," at 4:15 o'clock in Room 1041. All interested are cordially invited. Senior Law elections at 4:15 p.m. in room C of the Law Building. Candidates for election must present eligibility slips. Choral Union Rehearsal: Regular Choral Union rehearsal for all members will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the School of Music. There are a few vacancies in the 1st Tenor and 2nd Bass sections. Try-outs will be held after the regular rehearsal Tuesday evening. Adelphi House of Representatives: Open meeting at 7:30 p.m. in room 4203 Angell hall. All who are interested are invited to attend the open meeting. A number of. try-out speeches will be heard. A short closed meeting will follow the open session. Alpha Nu. All men interested in trying out for Alpha Nu should come prepared to talk on the subject, "Prohibition as a Political Issue." COMING EVENTS French Lecture: Mr. Auguste Deselos, Assistant Director of the Office National des Universities et Ecoles Francaises, will give the first lecture on the Cercle Francais program Wednesday, October 22, at 4:15 o'clock, in the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater, on: "La-Peinture en France depuis Vingt-cinq ans." The lecture will be illustrated with slides. MOSCOW, Oct. 20.- One person was sentenced to death today and 74 others given various terms in prison after their conviction of graft in food and clothing sales here.
